  1. Me, too Although it might be sold by then What! Leaving our ranks? Say it ain't so Still got the 7.5 right on!

  3. I'll have to wait for the 5.0's to post mine
  4. Let's face it It's tough to separate the two entirely. When they take something that was "ours" for so long, and all of a sudden make it mainstream, we all think wow, that's cool. But the truth is thet hollywood machine only see's comics as intellectual properties to exploit and process into works that appeal to the "mainstream". After the movies come and go, we end up feeling somewhat betrayed, or even worse, violated (Daredevil, Spider-Man 3 and that god-awful Batman wand Robin movie come to mind) and we also suffer the effects, by having our books rocket in price only to fall precipitously when the movie's fail to deliver on the promises. But we carry on
  5. I's nice to see the flames still lit here even if the movie didn't deliver the results we all hoped for. Just goes to show, at the end of the day it's really about the comic book.
  6. You did send the book back in raw to regrade right? They don't review PQ any longer, I was told last month. The only way now to have them possibly change anything is by a full regrade. I was asking because I was having about ten old label books reholdered. It can get expensive to pay for a whole new grading of some high end books. Night, Actually, Come to think of it, the book was raw, i.e. cracked out, when CGC got it
  7. I know right. The cover is like we say here in Brooklyn, "butta" but the PQ is LT/OW. I took the trade off on PQ to get the best copy of a cover I adore. Someday, I may find a 5.0 that measures up. The problem is many have worse covers than my 4.0. Not a bad problem to have I guess I resubbed an old label AF #15 and got a PQ bump Some great deals in those them thar old labels that get PQ bumps.
  8. Just to clear up any misunderstanding here, I'm NOT the seller of this book. I was merely informing others about its availability. Yeah, I wish it was mine, but I'll have to settle for the CGC 3.5 (CR-OW) copy I bought back in February. mea culpa Hey, a 3.5 is not settling when it comes to any SC #4 (thumbs u . . . but I do think that 5.0 is a little optimistically priced. I had a 5.0 offered to me for a lot less a few months back. In hindsight, I wish I had bought it.
  9. I saw it, it's a nice copy. The price however, seems a tad optimistic Certainly not in my budget. But you never know. Good luck with the sale!
  10. Thanks Sha, George - yes indeed. I decided to expand my WW collection beyond the 1-20 run, and was fortunate to snag 2 more "D" copies. S'been so hectic lately, I actually thought that I had posted this book that I got from GAtor.
  11. Picked up a "D" copy from ComicConnect . . . hey CC about that undisclosed crack in the slab
  12. Some decent early issues for sale on ebay, a total of 4 single-digit #issues including a #6 with only restoration being glue to reattach the cover. Sounds like an easy resto-removal and resub to blue to me. There's a #3 in there too. Hope this helps someone with their set http://shop.ebay.com/surfstylehra/m.html?_nkw=wonder+woman&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313
  13. He has a Showcase #22 for sale. who doesn't
  14. Hey George - maybe it'll become a cult favorite like Rocky Horror, with people mouthing the dialog and coming to the shows in costumes
  15. All that I could find was the total number of theaters it played in world-wide: 3,816
  16. The only snag is that this total isn't even enough to make up for the amount spent on advertising ($125mil) let alone the production costs. With a 65% drop off this past weekend, it's probably going to take a long, long time for GL to break even let alone crack a profit. I know it's lackluster, I was just curious how it did this week and so I posted what I had discovered.
  17. Theatrical Performance Total US Gross $89,311,000 International Gross $21,800,000 Worldwide Gross $111,111,000
  18. and yet it seems year after year, more and more "new" and "former" sa collectors move to gold Enh. I think that's more "hype" than anything else. There's a small pool of folks who move over to collect "the best". I don't see many see Captain Marvel collectors. To me, the vast majority of GA is going the way of Westerns etc. It's inflated in the guide overall, and even most of the non key mid range books of the major titles have shown little interest or movement in sales. Sure, some guys move to Timelys etc. But new folks entering in the market are generally going to SA/BA for vintage, not Gold. And I think the real question isn't why some people move over, but why more people aren't collecting Gold at all. There aren't "more and more" folks moving over. There are some, but nearly enough interest to support the vast majority of material which exists out there. matter of perspective, I guess...I see far more GA collectors approaching me at shows and inquiring about books than ever before... and I hear the "I used to collect spider-man" or whatever... that said, it is a matter, as mentioned, of perspective... will AF 15 demand always be greater than most any GA book... sure... will the affodability factor of most SA and BA keep a "majority" of collectors buying that genre...likely.... but, I see more former SA collectors asking about Gold, PM'ing me, etc etc, that is looks plenty bright imo... and no one has collected captain marvel in a decade plus +1 Foolish fanboys. you guys are mavericks, willing to break from the herd
  19. Just got back from seeing the movie again. I have to say I enjoyed it, and I picked up on a few things I missed while staring at all the eye candy the first time. I took a die-in-the-wool Marvel guy with me and was prepared to be abused. He actually liked it
  20. Interesting article on the TV show http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/05/15/nbc-wonder-woman/
  21. That's what comics are supposed to be - fun fun and optimistic. And considering the ticket sales so far, looks like a few others agree.
  22. Spot on. IMO, the movie was not as "dark" as those other 2 movies you sited and a lot of the Superhero movies in general. I think DC may be trying to attract the younger demographic and also snag us boomers that grew up with this stuff.
