  1. Is this a book that can be kept long term or is it destined to become another supermova modern. There are now 110 copies graded at 9.8.
  2. So do you think 23,24 will join the party or be left out?
  3. But now as an adult I can relate more with Matt's problems than PP. I am a little tired of the teen aged nerd. BTW- How does he get his billy club to bounce off three walls and have enough juice to still knock someone silly. The only thing I ever saw close to this in real life was at a Braves game. A baseball hit off a concrete facade and hit a woman in the back of the head and knocked her down. But that was only one bounce.
  4. Yes, not only is it the movie. It is Blackest Night, Sinestro, Rebirth, and Johns. He has breathed new life in a character who I think for me is a lot like Iron Man. Ultra Cool dude that has has some decent runs (Adams) but for the most part has way underperformed in the long term stort wise. Now, he finally has a creative team that has unlocked the potential of the character and the key back issues are starting to respond. What has been interesting to me it has been mostly localized to SC 22, GL 8, and GL 76. Does the speculation start to spread to other keys or is this is where it ends.
  5. As I a recall, these all the top high grade holders of CGC Showcase 22: 9.0 Heritage auction 9.0 Comic Link auction 8.5 Metropolis Comics/Comic Connect 8.5 Doc Joe form thread 8.0 Rick made a private offer for $12500 8.0 Metropolis Comics private sale or Rick's offer to Private collector 8.0 Private collector I know 7.5 Peewee from thread 7.5 ? I saw this on the thread somewhere Anybody else has additions to add on this list? The 9.0 CL auction copy is owned by a board member. No, not me. The CL one is the nicer of the two 9.0s, right? I think it is and I have been told it won't be sold despite the mania.
  6. This is an interesting book. He has a big price on it considering it sold for 1600.00 last month. What is the premium for double covers in general? Also, why does the 9.8 go to the interior cover instead of the one everyone sees? World's Finest 199
  7. So on books like the 9.4 #1 and 9.6 #4 do they end up in the hands of guys building runs or guys just buying a big book?
  8. There is not many with a 9.4 handle on it. Do you think it has legs to push past 50.
  9. My advice would be to work on the silver age run first. Prices on the bronze age run seem a little soft and may come down more. I would start with that number 2. That would be an awesome book for any collection, Of course I am working on the 94-143 run first as well. So I guess it is one of those do as I say and not as I do.
  10. The longer the wait the more likely I will have the money when it finally appears. There is one in the set registry but I have no idea who he is or if he plans on keeping it forever.
  11. Plus HD Video. I want to see the sweat on the forehead.
  12. Of course there are thousands of X-Men collectors for 94-143. Where does the Silver Age run rank. Is there as much competition. Does it rank up there with Spidey, Hulk, Avengers, and FF.
  13. It is an incredible book with really nice looking pages. I salute you for having the guts to open the slab.
  14. Pedigree has an X-Men #2. It is a fabulous book. Any guesses on the final price for this book?
  15. Those are great. I am partial to the number 14 as the best of the four.
  16. He may have a heart attack but it won't be from cracking out a book, it will be because he must be on crack. Holy that would make me nervous.
  17. I bought it last Oct. for 325.00. I thought that was pretty fair for a 9.6 pedigree. There is a white paged 9.8 out there that sold for 837.00 on Heritage last August. I am happy with my PC.
  18. The scan is pretty dark as well. The purples really jump off the cover. Although that samarai sword must be pretty dull if you could suspend a 180 lb man by his clothes. It certainly is not as sharp as Kevin Costner's sword in the Bodyguard.
  19. Here is another that I have not posted. Back in the 70s, this was the first 12 cent book I ever owned. It was a rag but for a 12 year old, it was a prized possesion. It ranked right up there with my George Brett and Pete Rose rookie cards.
  20. Hmm, that book looks very familiar.... I think I have half of your books now. If I can just get my hands on your 137 and 139.
  21. This thread needs a bump. Recent Acquisition.
  22. That my friend is a very cool cover.
  23. The 9.2 is a beaut but I doubt we will see a scan in this thread. I also wonder if a 9.4 will ever surface.
  24. Remember with a monster key, they are never ugly. They are battle tested, they have character, they are survivors, they are naturally preserved, they have earned respect, and it is the first appearance of fraking Hal Jordan.
