  1. Wow, I just looked at the CLink 8.0 and Rich's 7.5. I beleive I would rather have Rich's copy. You my friend have a great book. If you ever sold it the price would be strong because the crackers would think they could resubmit.
  2. Yeah, but when the owner wakes up the next morn it will still be restored... But he also won't have to take a mortgage out on his house to pay for a blue label.
  3. What about the 9.0 Mp that sold last night on C-Link. It seemed like a pretty book and a decent price at 4100.00 That is less than 10% FMV of a blue label.
  4. (7.0 AF15s fo for $35k). I can remember when S4s & 15s were neck to neck...like Alydar and Affirmed !!! Yeah...one year SC4 #1 spot...one year AF15 #1 spot..etc... Well, we no who the champ is now huh? We need a Flash movie, to revive this book. No movie until I get them all.
  5. I would have paid that price for it if it was CGC but the rumors I got were that it was in a PGX case for a reason.
  6. Are people getting desperate? 7.0 sold on CL for 10+ and a raw 4.0 that looks trimmed sold for 2k in less than 3 hours. I think i might be getting desperate....
  7. But the value of books today is based on a few things with the story being the least important. 1. Relevance of the character today. (which establishes demand) 2. Importance of it being a key. (First appearance etc...) 3. Cover 4. Supply in high grade (which establishes supply) 5. Creative crew 6. Story Few free to add. This is just my 2 cents. XM 1 does pretty well on the first five and I think over time will catch FF1 and Hulk 1 in value. Remember prices today are set by fanboys of the series. Prices in 20 years will be set by the fanboys of that time. So who will be more relevant or popular in 20 years.
  8. May the ghosts of Gwen, Cap'n Stacey, Aunt May, and Uncle Ben haunt you 4-ever ! May the iron-clad tentacles of Doc Ock NEVER let you free ! May the Scorpion's sting never heal upon you ! May the P-bombs of the GG explode while you're reading X1s !! Finally, take this !! (one for each below). I'm a DC guy. The Marvel Universe is just make beleive. I'm not scared of your voodoo. My voodoo is stronger.
  9. Color wise that is a tremendous copy. If not for the lower right and upper left corners it might have gotten a 9.6. To me, this is the one. You can have your AF15, I'll take this book everyday.
  10. That's my take too...28 is iconic and colorful and get the nod, but 29 is really cool. 30 is a bit boring. I always wanted to own a 29 and 30, but never did. There's still time. You're still breathing! I've always liked the all three. I think JLA has overall the best covers of the DC silver age books. Tim- What are you buying if anything?
  11. Or he could really think it should sell for 50K which would be a head scratcher. He has to be ticked that the other one posted on the same day.
  12. I think Doug's strategy is better. He has his books in a "vault". Everyone know what was paid for them but the are "not for sale". But we know they are all for sale. His advantage is he is taking offers and does not have a posted price. So if anyone wants one, they better make a good offer and if they don't hit his price, no one knows what was offered, how much he really wants, and there is no stigma attached to the book that it only got "x" amount of interest because they are in his "personal" collection.
  13. Mark, Keep waiting. As long as you don't need the money you will eventually get your price. That is a fantastic book. I don't know about the 9.4 but the 9.6 is a very weak grade and I would bet money it won't see the light of day for years.
  14. It has had higher bids but with the price that the 9.4 and 9.6 sold for I just don't think this book can get to 90-100K. I do think it could pull 70 easy if on Heritage at no reserve. I think the market may be down but I also think this book has been around for awhile and the asking price is so known that the serious bidders are not going to try since they are not willing to pay the reserve. But thats just my 2 cents.
  15. As long as your wives don't find out, dabbling is ok.
  16. 10 Cent 50s DC comic 9.0 + = priceless
  17. Really a book like this where market value is not known should be put up for auction. Andy, I think your comparison of super hero to war numbers collectors is valid to some extent but the most important with a book like this is demand by people with deep pockets. If two buyers exist the book could sell for a big number. If not, it will sit there. I just wish it was an auction book.
  18. Here is another Pacific Coast. I swear those books are so much nicer than the average bear.
  19. Next another black cover book that is difficult in 9.6
  20. OK, I got my Gary Keller books today. He did a real good job picking books. I was only unhappy with one book. First Up: A square bound that I have had a tough time finding in 9.6
  21. Why... all you'll do is free it and let it out of its cage. A book that nice needs to be kept imprisoned, safe from damage, safe from you crack heads.
  22. Has anyone seen the SC4 8.5 on CC. I wonder if there is going to be much interest. The SC8 on CL did ok but not great. What I don't understand is the no credit card rule. Have you seen that before on this site.
