  1. Another 9.4 I think, and especially well deserved with its predominantly dark cover! Page quality is just sublime!
  2. 9.4 from me. Great story behind these and brilliant foresight, grabbing a stack of each issue and hanging on to them! And now they can see the light of day!
  3. Gut says 3.0 on this one. But no lower.
  4. Great choice of pen colour and placement for the sig, it works really well. I bet you're well pleased!
  5. First thought was 5.5 then I knocked it all the way down to 4.0 because of the discolouration, or whatever it is. I suspect coffee or similar beverage. Get someone with a strong constitution/immune system to give it a good sniff. If it was strong coffee, there may still be a hint of it. Java? Columbian?
  6. I ended up at 4.0 maybe 4.5 once I saw the stains and back cover/spine wear. Looks great from the front which may push it to 4.5 in CGCs eyes. The corner chips could be bindery but equally could be bug chew. Take a magnifier to them, edge on, to look for the tell tale signs. Great looking copy, nice and flat.
  7. 6.5 was exactly where I landed too. Great looking copy!
  8. This would look great in a slab just the way it is frankly. It is though, a very (VERY!) nicely presenting but low grade copy. 4.0 as is, in my opinion. Great book to introduce yourself to the board with!! Welcome
  9. I'm up around 5.0 but can't see a stain. Is it the discolouration along the spine, on the back cover view?
  10. Certainly looks fresh and minty! I struggle above 9.0 without the book in hand, so my address is...... This should see 9.4 as is.
  11. It's really hard to tell once slabbed but a few more hi Res close ups may help. Not sure why a miscut would count against the grade. Maybe its been noted but hasn't harmed the grade? Even so, 7.5 on the face of it, does seem harsh.
  12. The apparent moisture stain will hurt the grade. Could be 6.5 but most Moderns need to be 9.0 plus to be worth any kind of consideration for slabbing.
  13. Around 4.0 and too much white to even begin cleaning. Showing its age well is how I'd describe it.
  14. I'm really glad there are still some exciting finds to hear out there in the wild! Looks 2.5 to me and maybe 3.0 with a SA Key bump.
  15. I'm thinking 4.5 here but the SA Spidey bump might get you a 5.0
  16. Hi, welcome to the boards. Please take a look at the rules & guidelines for posting in this forum. Books should be out of their bags so that boardies can get the best look at them. The other thing is, this forum has become a valuable resource to refer back to, so it's really helpful if the thread bears the title and number of the comic you want appraised. Thanks! Your book here is a likely 6.5 or 7.0 at the max, since the spine stresses are pretty bad in places.
  17. Given the saturation of the colours and the super white and wavy edged pages I'm definitely in the 'fake' camp. The reproduction of the art wasn't perfectly controlled in terms of size, leading to the reduced margins, giving the impression of trimming. That does explain pretty much all the weird that's going on here.
  18. No, I really wasn't suggesting that. Merely that the grader notes could have more meaning within CGC than they appear to have to the outside world.
  19. With regard to the grader's notes: I don't see the word 'light' being a useful way of describing spine splits. A split requires a measurement of some kind. Maybe in CGC world, use of the term 'light' with regard to splits is backed up somewhere by a table. This enables their rationale/grading to retain a certain level of shall we say, discretion, from the outside world. (eg: light = 3 to 5mm, moderate = 6 to 10mm etc)
