  1. Hey Gene. These are sweet books. I always keep an eye on your sales threads. I have been stuck in GA and more limited on my spend but I always watch and you are always great to work with.
  2. mm, I hope it turns out for you if you move forward. I have thought about this on a few of my books to either have small CT removed or a tear seal opened but never have tried. I looked at GPA and it would most likely play to my benefit and there is just such an unfortunate aversion to GLOD and PLOD labels. I wondered too where the book might land that using just a grade comparison may not be enough. For example, I believe that not all 5.0s are the same as far as presentation and marketability. A piece out of the BC compared to the FC is most likely more marketable. I also thought about how many copies are on the census and the more in a suspected grade probably played against me since there may be more for sale at that grade and may be more presentable. Too many variables for me but the temptation is still there. Good luck.
  3. I have some SOTI slabs that are notated and some that are not. One that is I also thought this was the same with POP books in which some are notated and some are not. Not sure if it is a timing of when graded or the discretion of CGC or something else?
  4. Yeah I have bought some things online and always pleased. I have been tempted to buy one of the face masks.
  5. Wow - last GPA recorded 9.8 sale was June of this year (actually only 9.8 sale recorded at all) for $190. 20 9.8s on the census.
  6. I remember vividly watching when he was riding on the outside of plane. I want to say maybe Wide World of Sports broadcast it. I must have 14 or 15. When the comic came out, I bought it off the stands and that tagline "because he's real!" always stuck with me. Growing up with Evel and this guy was great. I never knew the Human Fly's real name and actually just looked it up. And I can't forget having Super Dave Osborne (real name Bob Einstein). He was awesome. I didn't realize until just now when I looked up his real name that he was the older brother of Albert Brooks. Super Dave was the real life version of Mr. Bill (Oh No).
  7. At first, I thought this thread was about these Jimmers BUT my bud and fellow Perv is back Missed you, buddy
  8. It might feel better for potential buyers since this is your first sales thread to just request payment within a day of receiving an invoice/PM or so instead of requesting immediate payment via a paypal button. You should state that in your deets so no one is caught off guard. I really think most folks pay quickly. I know I pay the same day as receiving a PM but usually right after I buy something, I PM the seller and ask for their PP addy unless their deets say wait until you receive an invoice. Waiting a day is not a long wait and if something goes awry, just pop it back up for sale. You can state no probation of HOS list dregs buy but it is your responsibility to review those lists as nothing automatically prohibits them from staying on the boards and participating. Good luck.
  9. @Gotham Kid would put on his Blue Suede Shoes and get All Shook Up for a Big Hunk O' Love for those books. I doubt he Can't Help Falling in Love like a Hound Dog in heat and if he were to grab any if they were offered, he would have that Love Me Tender feeling and cry I'll Never Let You Go but if he weren't able to buy any, it would be a trip to Heartbreak Hotel and he would Have One Broken Heart For Sale. Alas, back to Portugal he would go under a Blue Moon and feeling Indescribably Blue as his flight back would be a Return to Sender, left only with empty If I Can Dream thoughts. I know that is really bad. Peter, you deserve to have at least one of his books so you could Shake, Rattle and Roll.
  10. https://www.ebay.com/mys/active?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextSelling&ssPageName=STRK%3AME%3ALNLK%3AMESEX Tim Holt/Red Mask Lot - https://www.ebay.com/itm/303690122800 Low grade but complete. Some really great Ayers Ghost Rider stories and Frank Bolle Red Mask. More pics and higher res on Ebay. Adventures of Bob Hope #26 and #97 Signed by Bob Hope? Fine/Fine+ - https://www.ebay.com/itm/303694737223 I have no idea if these were actually signed by Bob Hope. I can attest that I personally did not have them signed as I bought them this way. There was no COA and no way to verify the signatures are real without, I assume, having an autograph authenticator look at them. 11. Hi all I posted this in the Accurate DC Whitman list thread but think it might be more appropriate here. Not anything I collect but I picked up 21 DC Whitman variants. I think they average mid-grade. Not really looking to sell but it was an impulse bid so I am curious if there is any premium for these in this condition. I am almost certain I tremendously overpaid since looking through these threads, nothing seems particularly HTF. And I am sure it is most likely in this thread but some have the strikethrough UPC code while most have the Superman logo there. Is there a difference in rarity in these?
  12. What @Z List said is correct. Another clue that this is a reprint is the DC publication indica is more to the left on the original but on the reprint, it is more centered right under the left part of the cape like your copy. Below is the real thing (not mine but I wish). See the difference of the indica position and the red building is not as full as the original.
  13. Congrats. As a collector, the best advice I can share is buy the book not the label. If you're happy with it, that is what matters most.
  14. Didn't Pop Hollinger press his books? In a way, I get excited to see a Pop book with the tape down the spine, especially when I put it in context of the times and I believe his intent was admirable. I have a few with parts and pieces from a variety of comics.
  15. I scanned them yesterday and after looking through them, they are lower grade than I thought - mid grade average. I don't know if it is okay to post them all so I will put the scans in a spoiler if someone wants to look. And I am sure it is most likely in this thread but some have the strikethrough UPC code while most have the Superman logo there. Is there a difference in rarity in these?
  16. Bob and I had an ongoing PM thread as I had asked about a book of his. As some know, I have dealt with some rough health issues and Bob shared what he was going through. He had a hard time reading long PMs and concentrating when we were conversing. Unfortunately, he dropped off as his health deteriorated. I wish I had got to know him better earlier other than through his boards. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.
  17. It doesn't sound like my stupidity. I don't have auto-renew so when my membership renewal was coming, I tried a few times to pay with credit card and kept getting an error or reject (cannot remember). So I get worried that my CC had been jeopardized and called. I was told all looked good and they told me, are you sure they accept Discover. Duh' - no they don't so I switch to my Visa and no problems. I don't think the CGC site gave me a specific message that Discover was not accepted when I submitted the information but I do think it says somewhere on the site.
  18. Wow this may be worse than the Giggle Comics that was graded as an 8.0 but maybe as an OSPG advisor, he has rewritten the guide's grading standards for next year's edition so these are accurately graded.
  19. Mike is really great to deal with and I hope to buy from him again. Really reputable and true to his word person.
  20. I won a lot 22 DC Whitmans average grade looks like VF-/VF. I don't have much experience in these so this thread has been great. The ones listed as harder to find are not in this group. I am curious is there a price point average or percent premium for these? I am not looking to sell. I am just wanting to know how I overpaid for the lot
  21. @RBerman @Latverian Tourism Board I have been on the boards 13 years and posting images/panels has been okay. Posting an entire story would I think be frowned upon (especially if not in the public domain). Since I was the OP here, I appreciate your insights and thoughts. I still find it peculiar that the Beast is not signed. I cannot think of a scenario unless the artist just plain forgot or maybe it was several sketches being done for one person and they the artist just missed this or opted to signed only one?
