it really is apples and oranges as all of the OA are one of a kind items.

whatever Mark wants to charge, Mark can charge. there is no where else to get any particular page (as its the only one in existence)

as for what page "looks better" thats all in the eye of the person who owns it, or wants to own it.

very true - its a fair point! i have paid way over market for a few pages that i loved -- a WD page from issue 8 i bought from a boardie for 850 when i knew its value was a lot less -- i just really wanted an early example of adlards work and i love the panels..

An epiphany! :applause:

These same points have been made countless times, but it's the one time they stick that matters.

Hopefully this means no more complaining about Mark's prices or krapping on Charlie's art. :wishluck:

Though, I still have no idea what that has to do with anything? Why are you putting everything I do under the microscope?

Umm...everything related to WD is fair game here, right? Those are your rules, as I understand them. You're selling WD art. I'm talking about it. What's the problem?

Apparently, it's OK for you to call someone a insufficiently_thoughtful_person as it related to WD art. I haven't done that with you, so it should all be good.

 rules? what is wrong with you? you are like in some weird cryostate where you come out of hiding just to become a boil on my ...you are talking about a listing I put up on craigslist for artwork in general - 3 months ago - which you incorrectly stated is currently posted - which, is not.

i dont care what you do, talk about, call me, or buy/sell -- im happy to talk with you about everything...but it just seems you and claudio have a personal vendetta against me for some weird reason..

tell you what - the next con we all go to - lets have a few beers and sort out the hatred with a good old fashioned game of apples to apples or something..

on that note - im going to get some japanese noodle soup -- tan tan ramen. yum. have a good saturday all..

No vendetta. If you can dish it out, you should be able to take it. That's all.

No hatred, either. Just find many of your posts to be poorly thought out.

Enjoy the noodles!

I definitely don't have a vendetta against you. I speak out less about you than you do about Mark. Do you have a vendetta against him?

Here is my thought process. You posted that Mark's pricing structure was bad for the OA market in general when the 106 cover came up for sale.. I vehemently disagreed. I expressed those thoughts and I pointed out how your pricing structure was open for criticism as well.

When you posted that the cover to 40 was meh, I think I held my tongue even though I thought it was in poor taste. Seriously, that cover was better than 99 percent of the stuff you post here as "eye porn" and yet you felt the need to disparage it. I literally laughed out loud at Felix's response though.

And here you are again berating Mark and I just decided to chime in again.

Actually, now that I think about it, I only speak out against you when you seem to be critical of others. (shrug)

lol oy vey. I am posting mobile here so bear with me -

Claudio - I barely talk about Mark and splashpage -- the few times his pricing comes up, I chime in...I never start the discussion and I certainly never say anything that isn't true in my mind and others I speak with..

Let's talk issue 40 - the cover to issue 40 is . Worse than . Its garbage. junk art - WTF is wrong with Rick's eyes?? Did he suddenly develop a case of amblyopia (lazy eye) -- why is half his face BLACK with shadow, yet the blood over it is visible?? Half his nose is either missing or he had a horribly botched nose-job?? He has clearly just been in a scuffle, yet his hair remains impeccable (vidal sasoon for men??)

Let's also gloss over the fact that his right ear looks like a piece of bacon and that he has jizz on his lips. Yep, the artwork to the cover of issue 40 is horrible. I said it, don't care if anyone disagrees. Rick also has the look of a blow-up doll.

Related to my artwork I have posted here for others to enjoy and see what can be found on the secondary market - I'd rather have EVERY. SINGLE. PAGE. I. EVER. POSTED. over that cover.

Soup for thought - though I doubt you will reflect, you will probably just use this as more reason to make snarky comments about how much you two hate me..

doh!

#40 is garbage. So badly drawn it's offensive. Rick has jizz on his lips. Got it. And #39? The one with...well, who exactly is that on the cover? Anyway, who cares, because it's apparently this great:

This is the cream of the crop - short of getting a cover from Tony Moore you could not ask for something better.

As you know - this cover was drawn by the talented Charlie Adlard back in 2006 - THE SAME YEAR HE WON THE EISNER AWARD!!

As you also know - issue 39 was a VERY pivotal issue with some huge things happening in it which will no doubt be included in the hit TV SHOW!

This cover is an absolute gem - EARLY covers DO NOT COME ON THE MARKET VERY OFTEN --

Per your eBay listing ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&nma=true&rt=nc&rt=nc&item=140764409851&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&si=uPFsLp32%252Be8%252F860MtJqOnV2fI6w%253D&orig_cvip=true&hash=item20c6366ffb ).

To recap:

#40 is total garbage.

#39 is the cream of the crop.

This is why I ask if anyone still takes you seriously.

Now I am really confused. The guy who owns the cover to 27 is an insufficiently_thoughtful_person for not selling it. However, you'd rather have a 150 dollar piece than the cover to 40 which is worth thousands. What does that make you?

To recap:

I don't believe Mark is detrimental to OA no matter how he chooses to sell art.

I don't believe you should call out someone's art as meh especially when you aren't open to the same criticism.

I don't believe the guy is an insufficiently_thoughtful_person for keeping the cover to 27.

Are these views really that far-fetched?

Because we disagree on these points, it doesn't mean I hate you. I just choose to disagree. I am confused by you but I definitely don't hate.

Good point. As I said...not very well thought out.

lol

What a boring conversation guys. Seriously.

I see no problem with anyone asking for prices they hope to get. The fair market will win in the end.

But, Jerry bad mouthing Mark's pricing and Adlard's art publicly then posting cover #39 with such hyperbole is a bit funny.

I know very little about OA comic art but what I do know about art in general is that there is no guide...no rules. It's up to the buyer who wants the art bad enough. It's one of a kind. If somoene is spending $5k for a cover....so be it. That's what the market bears.

Complaining about the pricing is futile. Wait and see what happens and then jump if you get it at the price you feel comfortable or jump early on the high price to guarantee ownership.

I recently bought a Issue 11 page....ealry art doesnt come up often from what's witnessed. I paid more than I should. Oh well.

I'm happy.

Hey someone mentioned earlier about, hope I get this right Kara I believe, not selling anymore TM pages? I'm assuming that's TM's partner? I tried to email them a couple times on his contacts page and I never got a response. Maybe money is not good enough for them.....I'd really like to invest in a Moore piece...

I really hope my post gets a reply. :sorry:

Aren't you divorcing the comments from the context a little in your recap? Should I still take it seriously?

I doubt anyone really wants to get involved or take ramblings on a forum for collectors seriously 100% of the time. Regardless of the source. To me it looks like people should just agree to disagree at this point. The thread is going nowhere but it's getting there at a rate of knots.

Right I'm off to finish wrapping presents... has something to do with peace on earth and good will to all men...

I feel like they keep getting mad at speculators and that is why they stopped doing the convention raffle sketch opportunity at conventions and only do ebay sketch opps.

They're really nice people in person, but I think they just don't want to sell pages online - that way you are forced into telling them you're not going to sell the page at a later date for double when they ask if you want the item personalized or not.

I don't think its speculators - in fact, as far as I can recall - there has been three Walking Dead Tony Moore pages for sale on Ebay in the last YEAR.

Of those, two were by boardies, and one was pulled from Ebay about 10 minutes after putting up the auction (seller recanting on wanting to sell I believe).

Of those, 2 on Ebay which actually did sell, they were from sales (by Tony and Kara) done 3+ and 5+ years ago.

It has ZERO to do with speculators...I have my thoughts..but I'll reserve...too much drama for one day.

Also its not confirmed that they aren't selling -- Kara told me she isn't sure she is going to sell anymore WD pages...so they might?
