PeeWee, Wow thats a fast sale-up for only 1 day. I have to give you credit for de-slabbing and reslabbing it. Now you have upgraded to a nice 7.5, congrats (thumbs u

Take the 9.0 for instance. How easy would it be to have the book slightly damaged within the slab, store it in a bad area with humidity issues, etc. Suddenly your 9.0 could easily drop to an 8.5 or an 8.0 and the value would drop significantly. We all know that we can only do so much to preserve the condition of these key books but given the paper-stock used on this book specifically as well as a number of other factors, I know that I personally would have a difficult time enjoying the book and being able to hold it on any regular basis provided I had even the slightest interest in selling it down the line.

I've never had any of the problems you're alluding to. This sounds not ENTIRELY like an unfounded concern...by mostly like one. Be careful with it, put it in a safety deposit box, and you should be fine.

I thought airtight safes were the way to go.

PeeWee's made the right decision; sell his nice showcase 22 7.5 to fund the AF15 7.5. I would do the same thing!

That's cool. The WP'er king totally understands !
I know you do...I just wouldn't be "happy" as you wouldn't be happy with cr/ow pages (though as a GA collector, I love Cr/ow!)

Are you planning to bust that 7.5 out? I always prefer white pages, but there's really only one reason--I know other collectors prefer it, so it improves my position upon trade or resale. If you're just going to keep the book in the slab, only going for white pages is odd given that you can't see the pages through the slab, besides on the sides, which is minor enough to add nothing aesthetically significant.

I certainly understand the preservation aspect of white pages versus let's say cream/offwhite...but stored well, a cream/offwhite book will still outlast the lifespan of ANYONE reading this post...so it's tough for me to care TOO much about it.

Oh yea, don't take my busting on your 7.5 in that other AF15 thread too seriously...that's just something I do to talk myself out of big purchases. :insane: I've barely dealt with 7.0/7.5 books, so I'm unfamiliar with CGC's allowable defects in the grades.

Yeah, I always bust my books out.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised when opened. The cover is a clean gray and the book has a rare-n-special "newness" to it. If the pages follow that trend, I'm happy.

Trust me on this one. This is one book I know.

I'm cool with your (and anyone's) comments. The book DOES have spine wear. I can't beat CGC so I just join them.
