Canadian Price Variants

I wondered about those - weren't these promo comics offered with the purchase of a specific item (detergent - memory is vague)? Is there a US-equivalent of these?

They were released by Health & Welfare Canada. There are US versions.....as well as French versions.

On the bottom of the 1st page reads the following:

 

This book has been sponsored by Petro-Canada to support the Right-Riders Bicycle and Road Safety Program in Canada, promote social skills and a positive lifestyle. Content has been provided by Health & Welfare Canada and distribution by Canada Post is through Canadian Police Forces. The cooperation of the staff of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede is greatly appreciated.

My vague recollection of those Spidey promos is that the US versions were reprints produced later rather than contemporary variants of the Canadian originals. I may be wrong though.

What is interesting, is that the actual Canadian version is priced at $1.25

 

 

 

Could be that the US version came out later than the Canadian version. I'll check on the dates....

Checked the dates on #2. Canadian came out in 1990 & the US version came out in 1993.

The Canadian promos came out in the early 90s, I believe. The books were reprinted for direct market orders in the mid/late 90s.

So where there Canadian price variants that corresponded with the $1.90 price in 1993? Or is it just the $1.25 from the 90's? I've only got the Canadian's with the $1.25 price.

I really would not consider the Thin Ice book a Canadian variant, as it say's on the cover: $1.25 VALUE, indicating it was a giveaway.

 

Not the same thing as the previously discusssed Canadiann price variants.

I agree. Up until today I hadn't noticed that the US versions were reprints that came out 3 years later.
