OV
I knew you guys were cool enough in this thread so I could joke about that elusive second print #21. I got to meet Mike Zeck at the show and see lots of his original work. I only had this yellow slab for him to sign. Wish I would have had more books. Already signed by Campbell. Silent Master
Oh the GI Joe 2nd print mysteries... So over the last couple of months I've been purchasing several GI Joe lot collections (I have several OCD projects I'm working on: upgrading the conditions of my raw copies, attempting to get all the variants such as the newsstand/direct sales copies, Canadian price variants copies, 2nd prints, etc) I took some time today to do some sifting thru them, doing some separating, examining, etc. During my fun I ran across something different that I did not know. So this is Issue 36, direct edition: This is Issue 36, 2nd print (also direct edition) - note the difference in the price box: Clearly marked SECOND PRINT on the splash page This is Issue 36, also 2nd print - again note the price box: Also clearly marked SECOND PRINT on the splash page. That's right 2 different versions of Issue 36, 2nd print. Always something new to discover!!!

ygerg
Just wondering, just strating to get into Joes, but is there such thing as a GI Joe #21 second print? Im trying to look for one online and the only thing that pops out is the 3rd print one. Anyone care to shed a light on this. Thank you.
followtheleader
Pulled a "McFarlane" Special #1 out of a box at the Denver Comic Con. It's in amazing condition. A real beauty. A couple tables down, a guy had a marginal copy for $125. To my surprise, my copy cost me a whopping 50 cents. Ooops. If anyone's interested, I can post a scan some time. Theskunk33-migration
The consensus seems to be no. This has come up here before, and no one has ever seen or heard of one. It appears that it doesn't exist in the true "second print" form. No one seems to know why there is a clear third print. If you fine one, good luck to you! That's really odd, so until someone really finds one, third printing of the book is actually the "second" printing of it.
OV
Finally got all my books back from Big Wow! Hama sketch inked by Dexter Vines. I'll get it colored someday. Any advice on who to use? I like how Vines inked over Hama's name too. [/img] Hama inked by Leialoha
OV
But my 9.8 (third print) dropped a grade! Oh well. This sketch made me VERY happy. Stormy by Joe Benetiz! This is a foil cover back cover (which I didn't realize until after I had it cracked). Kept the grade and an awesome, awesome sketch. I decided to ask Joe Benetiz for a Cobra Saboteur sketch. Awesome!!!

Silent Master
At the tail end of the con I grabbed this blank for $4! I decided to ask Joe Benetiz for a Cobra Saboteur sketch. Awesome!!!
OV
Thanks guys! That Joe 200 was a total shot in the dark as far as the grade. I'd never seen that blank before either. My next character sketch will be Wild Weasel. Not till next year though.
Buzzetta
An interesting question arose over on Hisstank: I will quote the OP's question over here to see what insight all of you may offer. Hi, I was wondering something and hoping someone has the answers. I know Hasbro created the original 13 + 3 gi joe and cobra figures, and then Larry Hama wrote the backgrounds for them, and then wrote the comic. But there were some characters that appeared early on in the comics prior to having a figure, such as the Baroness. Does this mean the Baroness was a Larry Hama creation? Or something he would have worked with Hasbro on? I think the comic came out in 1982, and she didnt come out as a figure until 1984. I was going to link you all to the thread but apparently it was poofed. I was able to get the this information from google cache...

Buzzetta
From time to time, I complain about having sold my complete run of GI Joe and GI Joe special missions. It annoys me to no end that I got rid of them as they are truly the only comic I go back to read every now and then. I do not think it is worth it to buy them all back in high grade and have another 200 comics laying around. However, this caught my eye on Amazon and I was wondering if anyone had these and what they thought of the GI Joe Omnibus in Hardcover - The Complete Collection. They are up to publishing number 6 which will extend to Issue 61 of the main line, Special Missions 5 and Yearbook 3. They range from $35 to $50 each. If anyone has these, I would appreciate your thoughts on them. I am persuaded to start picking these up rather than recollect the original comics but am trying to weigh what I may enjoy owning more. Having both is not an option. Here is a link to volume 1 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/G-I-Joe-Complete-Collection-Vol/dp/161377396X/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405264397&sr=1-2&keywords=GI+Joe+complete+collection
