so what you're saying is old boobies are bad? hm

Or that with time, interest sags?

While GGA collectors may hooter and honker for better bets than busting busts,

they rack their knockers for titilating appreciation by Overstreet! lol

Even though I'm a huge GGA collector, if someone gave me $15K to spend on 1 comic book, I'd still buy an AF #15 instead of a rare HG classic GGA issue.

I would spend it on the best GGA book that I could get my hands on if I had $15k to burn. Amazing Fantasy #15 is great and all, but there are plenty of them out there, but ever so few high grade Phantom Lady #17's floating around (thumbs u

So, now goes the question what is the best GGA book on the market right now?

PL#17 is only the second best GGA cover.

I don't think we've ever done a Top 10 GGA poll, though skybolt did a top 50 thread. hm

Everyone is different and I have a cover I prefer more. If I had a 9.0 or better copy I would say what the book is. But I dont want to draw attention to the book, well at least until I can upgrade. Look what happened when everyone saw exciting 39, the poison candy cover. Even if you dont think it is better then PL#17 it would hit most peoples top 5 for sure.

I understand the appeal of PL 17, but I prefer Seven Seas 4 and 6 where a beautiful Baker girl is in action as opposed to looking like a porn star.

What are you kidding me? Phantom Lady posing not in action, but as a Porn Star? She is clearly attempting to escape from ropes that some dastardly villain has subdued her in ... so she can save the day by stopping a diabolical plot that will surely be against, America, God, Chevrolet, Innocent Children and Apple Pie and and that is plenty of action to be sure.

On the other hand ... the Baker South Seas girl shark fighting is insane.

OK I'll take one of each in 9.0 or better please :)

So what did the new Overstreet do for the PL 17 ... if 18k is what it takes to make the Overstreet Top 100 value list. How much does the king ... errr ... the Queen of the GGA books miss it by?

I remember when Greg Manning Auctions ... sold a South Seas 4 in 9.0 for like 3k ... years ago ... I doubt that book is even at 3k in the MISS GUIDE for 9.2 ....

The Blue Beetle 54 Church Copy for 6K ... was it? Wow ... that 's ridiculous.

The CGC shows the best PL 17 as a 9.0 ... there are a couple at 8.5 ... but that's a tough book in grade ... Heritage sold an 8.5 for something like 8 to 10k years ago ...

Metropolis Comics sold a 9.0 Planet 1 for $44k years ago ... I would want to pay guide ... for the 9.0 PL 17 if I had the money ... but if I owned it ... I wouldn't sell it for less than the Planet 1 ... first Sci Fi very very desirable ... love those beauty and the beast covers ... but the King .... errr Queen of the GGA books does not take a back seat to Planet 1 in my opinion ... they both turn heads.

Something else ... opinions change ... but in general ... while there are preferences to be sure ... what's the best GGA book ... PL 17 or Blue Beetle 54 or Wings 90 (or whatever) or Startling 49 .... or some issue of Wonder Woman ... or Seven Seas 4 ... or whatever you fill in the blank.

But look at the PL17 on the Gerber dust cover.... look at the Wertham reference to PL17 ... look at the cover to Overstreet MISS GUIDE 8 at Phantom Lady ... PL is the recognized KING...errr QUEEN of her genre ...

We can argue that Detective 27 is the king of the superheroes or that it's Cap Marvel because he sold more books ... or it's Marvel 1 ... or one day it will be Amazing Fantasy 15 ... but in general ... the King of the Heroes books is Action 1 ... arguments aside that is just the way it is ...

PL 17 is ultimately the queen of her class/genre :makepoint: ... whether I agree or not ... that is the general understanding of the marketplace ...

I am all about Seven Seas #4.

Ended up being the underbidder on the raw copy that was on eBay about a month ago - and was immediately kicking myself for not setting my snipe higher.

I haven't and wouldn't disagree. PLs are fine by me!
