Amazing Spider-Man Grail Acquired - Spider-Sense Going Happy

17 posts in this topic

I started collecting Amazing Spider-Man back in 1976 with my first issue being 153 and I have gotten every issue continously since then. My older brother started me down this journey and he had some earlier issues. I remember so vividly reading the Gwen Stacy clone epic as a kid. He had only a few of these issues, 145, 148, and the wrap up in 150. I later filled in the holes.

I started into original art 10 years ago with some modest purchases and have always longed for a nice Ross Andru page from one of those issues. I was very fortunate to work out a deal with a fellow Spider-Man collector to obtain my grail.

This page has everything that I could want. A classic Spider-Man swinging on his web, a Spider-Sense tingling shot, a fantastic villian in the Scorpion. I was amazed at how white the page is after 34 years. Must have been well loved.

A special thanks to Steve.

That feeling of reconnecting to your childhood is what it is all about for me. Every time you look at that page you will get that hard to explain good feeling all over. Worth every penny many times over. I love the silver/bronze age pages so much better than the modern pages, the simplicity and clarity in the page layout, the word balloons that tell the story, the characters actually look recognizable. Great page you got there, congrats!
