These were exactly as I got them from Adam. I did not cherry pick, believe what you will. Maybe that is the way you conduct business, not me.

There's no doubt in my mind that the seller went thru the boxes before he sold them. He picked out all of his keepers, and then sold you guy a lie.

Hey Sergio,

I don't mean to be a here, but since my name has been thrown around a few times I feel I should throw in my two cents.

If I remember correctly when you were paying me in installments for these boxes you told me you were doing it by selling some of the books individually and paying me with the sales. (I think there may have even been a board thread at one point with individual books but I can't remember) And I did sell you a number of bronze age longboxes & some unopened cases of Heroes Incs in two separate transactions, but never together. When I sent you the longboxes they did not have 35+ issues of Heroes inc in them. So to say they are exactly as they were when you got them from me can't possibly be true.

I'm not taking sides in this by the way. But felt I needed to throw that out there to keep things honest.

By the way, for anyone curious, these are how the books were described via PM prior to being sold by me. (Again, not posting to be a jerk or make anyone look bad, but my name was brought up a few times here and I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea)

Filter: Overall these would probably be considered low grade for bronze. Some books are wavy from water damage, but most aren't. (This statement was amended in a later PM after a second look revealed a larger number of water damaged books than it appeared at first glance which was discussed in detail prior to and again after the purchase.) There are some Gs/GVGs on the low end, and on the high end there are some Fs, VFs, and VF/NMs. So the grades range a lot but as a group they'd probably be considered lower grade bronze age. The boxes are a bit weird in the sense that some have pretty heavy multiples and others appear to have little or no multiples. I haven't gone through these much but I think there probably are a few issues that may have upwards of 30-40 copies. But this is not the case with all of them.

Comicseekers: anything worth anything in this collection..ex multiples of peter parker 1, if there are a lot of x-men and spiderman , Hulk , Capt America, Horror I'll probable take it

Filter: Honestly there's not a whole lot in terms of key issues. I think I saw some Vault of Evil 1s in pretty nice shape... some pretty beat up Werewolf by Night 1s. Some spideys. Not a lot of X-mens. I saw some 20 cent and 25 cent FFs, a good amount of horror titles, some Thors in nice shape, some Caps. Also a lot of weaker stuff like Ms Marvel, Devil Dinosaur, etc. I've left everything that arrived in the boxes there (I haven't removed anything for myself) but for the most part I think the boxes were already cherry-picked of the really good stuff before I even got them. The boxes are packed tight though. A couple of the boxes have some books that are bagged which probably brings the count down a little bit and some have some giant sized issues, but the unbagged boxes (which are most of them) I've counted as many as 350-360 books per box.

when we did the deal it was 20 boxes packed about 350-360 tight, with no heroes incs.except the case i threw in free as part of the deal. The 20 boxes were originally sold for $2000 ($100 a box.)

I knew this was going to end badly. I had pm'ed Adam when he had them up for sale & he was pretty honest about the quality & the percentage that had water damage. When I pm'ed Sergio to find out if this was the same lot with the water damage, he told me there was "no water damage" he could see.

When sellers say they haven't gone through the boxes & are vague about contents & condition, but then guarantee no more than 5 copies of a book in a box it just doesn't smell right. If they know there are not multiple copies in a box, they know enough to give a decent description of what is in there.

I think it's pretty clear what happened: the content of the boxes were exaggerated, the condition was exaggerated, and the boxes were cherry picked.

Sounds about right after reading all the posts.

Sergio, I don't know you, but after reading this note I would stop taking a defensive posture, apologize, and start sending out refunds.

Not going through the boxes in-detail was a big mistake when later on you were posting descriptions and stating no water damage or books with counts over 5 copies.

Just leave it at that.

Other than "the original price was exaggerated by $50 a box", I think that summed it up pretty well.

This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

You sell CS a TWENTY-longbox lot for $100 a box, toss in a Heroes Inc case for free, then he miraculously comes on selling FIFTEEN boxes, supposedly unsearched and for the "same price I bought them at" of $150 a box.

Do the math people, and CS obviously cherry-picked the 20 longboxes, sold off or kept about 6-7 of them (as Filter81 has confirmed), used the Heroes Inc to extend this to 15 longboxes full, then resold the remaining junk for MORE than he bought the original 20 longboxes for.

This is bad news, and from claims in his sales thread, this is an obvious scam perpetrated on the forum faithful.

Yeah, if the boxes were full, without the Heroes Inc, and then full again when sold by CS, what was removed?

Not to mention where the other FIVE boxes went to. That's why I estimated 6-7 longboxes worth sold or withheld.

After skimming the recent posts this is what I walked away with too. :(

I have no problem with CS cherry picking the boxes, or asking what he did for them as they were his books and his sales thread. But he should not have advertised what he was selling to what he bought from Adam as the same thing because clearly they were not.

It sounds like a classic case of passing the buck, or in this case junky comics.

This is getting pretty pitiful lately with all these little scams. And this one sounds like you cannot even call it an honest mistake of someone not going through the boxes and turning it around as a flip for quick cash.

Definitely, as it not only misrepresents the longbox contents, but also portrays Adam as the real scam artist. CS used Filter as a selling tool, as everyone knows he's above board, and also a fall guy when buyers opened up their junk.

This is obviously why Filter chose to post the truth, as he may have been getting PMs from irate buyers.

I know, but you would think sellers would be aware how fast board members jump on these situations and totally avoid trying this. (shrug)

But then again, I'm thinking like a reasonable human being, which when figuring out these situations that goes out the window. :sorry:
