I've collecting comics since the 1970s. And if somebody told me back then that someday I'd be excited about finding a decent copy of My Love #20, I would have asked them if they were high or insane.

The 1970s version of me could not see the future.

Comic collectors have a very large percentage of both the high and the insane.

Please forgive me ... but this is one of my favorite comics EVER. I mean, we're looking at not just an origin, but a GOOD origin, in a double sized square bound "fatty" format. It's one of far too few issues that have a full interior story by Gil Kane, as he was usually too busy workhorseing almost all of Marvel's covers.... and the Lizard too ?  GOD BLESS....

 Did a little deeper dive on this book. I chase 9.8s also (but only as a seller). All three graded books pictured are currently for sale at comiclink and aren’t mine.

Like most of the other Marvel giants from November, 1971 this is a tough book to find in top shape.  But among the copies now being auctioned, I like the look of this one the best.

It’s a beauty. Comparing all four the one thing that stands out is the appearance of white spine in the 9.4 and 9.6 copies.  Did pressing of the spine cause that?

In my experience, a lot of the Marvel giants and Annuals of the time had some of the squarebound white line and text visible from the front.  It was rarer to find a perfectly registered copy with the white line completely on the spine from top to bottom.  I sought out the picture frame giants with nicely registered covers, but among those three copies at auction prefer the look, color and overall square registration of the 9.4 even with the white showing.

These were my old copies, taken with two different scanners (the left mine, the right ComicLink's).  Nice and square, but not quite as much as your sweet copy:

This was a @greggy find and a ComicLink auction win for me. I'm sure I posted it before. But I got it back in 2012 so it's probably been awhile.

I'm very fond of the giant-length Thomas/Adams/Palmer of Avengers 93, and looked at a lot of copies before settling for the one on the bottom for the now-gone slabbed collection.  No scan of it yet, but I've still got a copy in the raw picture frame collection, but it doesn't look anything as nice as these.

Quoted for awesomeness.  Not only is the copy NM/M, but the cover registration is outrageously great and it's got white pages.  A hen's tooth.

Thanks, Bob. Your post with all the Avengers #93s got me thinking about my sharpest 25¢ Picture Frames. I can't count how many times I've upgraded from one 9.6 to another 9.6 or one 9.8 to another.

It's nice to get a book and think I'll probably never be envious of another copy.
