Beautiful raw copies.  The Sgt Fury picture frames had lower readership and smaller print runs, and so are harder to find in nice shape than most of the Superhero issues.

Last sets of Westerns from my collection.  Top census copies include #s 101 (1 of 3), 104 (1 of 4), and 106 (1 of 2), while among the highest graded copies are #s 102 (1 of top 4), 103 (1 of top 3),105 (1 of top 2), and 107 (1 of top 5).

Pardon me if this has already been discussed, but I thought this was a cool picture frame... it's in the picture frame run of the CA  title but is a circle rather than a square... leave it to Sal Buscema to sneak in a creative approach to the concept. I didn't realize it until after I bought this. My original decision to get it was the origin of Jack Monroe. GOD BLESS...

Then there's the curious case of the Cat #1.  With a publication date of November, 1972, it falls squarely into the picture frame era.  It has the framing at the top and left edge, but not along the bottom.  Most people exclude it as a bona fide picture frame Marvel, and it's not in the CGC picture frame Registry.

Never thought the cap or The Cat 1 fell into the picture frame era.

I have those books.

My first set of CLink auctions of 65 picture frame Marvels finished last night, and once again the sale prices overall were strong, some surprisingly so, despite a couple of the Westerns going for less than I paid for them.

These were the top three in terms of hammer price.  The non-Westerns were undercopies at one time that were either never offered for sale or didn't sell through the Boards.  Go figure - the Spotlight in 9.4 sold for more this week than my 9.6 top copy auctioned last September.  It's another reminder that trying to gauge current fair market value off of the most recent one or two public sales is fraught with variance.

Publication dates November, 1972, two months before Marvel did away with the cover design going forward.

I certainly thought that Cat #1 was a picture frame book buying it when it first came out.  I realize you can argue it's not based on the missing bottom part, but that seems soft to me given that the universally accepted picture frame design doesn't have framing on the right edge.
