I'm not sure if I could call him the "best" when John Buscema is standing right over there!  lol  But Kane was definitely a huge Marvel Bronze Age mainstay and I do agree that his fingerprints are all over that picture frame period.

The Kane nostril complaint is a pretty understandable and everybody's mileage varies. And I'm talking entirely about PF books.

I think Buscema's Silver Surfer #4 and Avengers #57 covers are two of Marvel's all-time classics. But I can't think of one stand out Picture Frame cover that Buscema drew.

Hmm ... OK, challenge accepted?  :yeehaw:

You're making it a little harder by limiting this to PF covers, so I can't toss out FF #112 or other examples that come in the last few months of the 15-cent era.  But here are a few I like a lot:

Plus of course FF #120 which is referenced a few posts above.

All great covers there, Lou. And I won't say anything negative about Buscema.

I just find Kane's PF covers more dramatic and memorable. And there's kind of a 3D quality really takes advantage of the PF format.

Subby 48 is hands down, my favorite PF cover of all time. Just spectacular.

In the Picture Frame registry, although not technically a picture frame cover.  Marvel had already devoted Captain America #109 to the detailed telling of Cap's World War II origin.  In this ish, a somewhat deranged Cap and Bucky from the 1950s appear in the present and capture the current Cap alongside former secret agent and Shield member Sharon Carter, providing a scenario for re-telling the origin once again, but this time extending it to the Korean War and beyond and the origin of the second, Jack Burnside Captain America.

I'm not remembering 100% but I believe this was all a big Roy Thomas project to make the 1940s and 1950s Cap make sense -- and if I recall correctly he was also the one behind the Invaders reboot around this time.  Am I right?
