But it's never actually paid off for me much until now. Yesterday morning, my aunt apparently called my dad and told him there was a garage sale near her and they had comics, and he should check it out because "maybe Jesse would be interested" because I had talked to her about the hobby recently.

So Dad went, and he called me while he was at the garage sale, and he said, "they have a bunch of stacks of comic books here, and they're $1 each. Do you want any of these?" And he started reading off books to me on the phone.

Here's what he ultimately grabbed for me, at $1 apiece:

I wouldn't believe it if it didn't just happen to me, but guys, the big score still exists. Sorry for being verbose, it's all in excitement. If you don't want the saga, skip to the pictures.

My wife and I went to an antique/collectible show this morning. I found a few odds and ends, nothing comic related, a few original Wacky Packages/GPK packs and a hawaiian punch wrist watch. We decided to stop at our local flea market since it was on the way back, around 3 o'clock.

They do outdoor vending on good weather days, so you never know who will show up. Amongst the detritus and garbage of a panel truck full of junk, was a yellowed comic box on a table sporting no lid, about a third full, covered in all manner of odds and ends. All I could see from a distance was a 90s X Men comic with a lenticular cover through the handle hole. So curiosity piqued, I go over to look.

Most of the comics have fallen over so I stand them up to start flipping through and the first in the pile is New Mutants #87, I immediately jump! I keep flipping through and there's a lot of X Factor and X force with various other 90's X titles mixed in. Bagged, unbagged, no rhyme, reason or organization.

I make it probably 85% through the stack and WHAM I'm hit again, only this time harder. Deadpool, Domino, and Gideon staring me straight in the face, New Mutants #98. My wife, who's at the other end of the table, tells me to turn it around...a second copy is on the other side of the board...

All together 55 books, some small runs, but mostly random issues. I ask the man what he wants for them and he says, $1 a piece. So I give him $60, and tell him to keep the change. I'm not sure how the big comic vendor inside the flea market didn't get to them before I did, but today was my lucky day. Now on to the good stuff!

While my daughter and I picked up some FCBD books, I saw the full run of Cherry Poptarts.  I took #3-7 and #11 with 3D glasses - all 1st printing.

I didn't take #1 & #2 because both are 2nd and 4th printing.  I will consider to take the rest later.  Maybe $20 dollars each is little too much.

Oh wow, it really did! I was joking - Welz really must have bought a bunch of those glasses and stuck them in the books! So, it could be argued those are the "original" glasses...

Hi. I find a lot of these. I’ve had a lot of great luck hunting in the wild!!!! This was a referral from someone that reached out and stated they don’t have comics but wonder if they refer someone if there is a referral fee I would pay. So I said yes I do that. He refers me to his uncle and sets up the date and time for me. Turns out this is in Moses Lake Washington. My best friends family lives there. So we got on a plane and flew out together to see his parents and check out some comics. 
 

The next morning we show up to a house with a shed in the back. We ended up going thru about 130 or so boxes in all. Lots of silver, bronze and copper. As we are looking he tells me “Just so you know, all my good stuff is in the house, not the shed.” 
 

I ended up buying most of his “good stuff” and every key and great books he had from the shed. I’ll be posting a sales thread soon,  these are not for sale. They are my keepers but lots of great books will be for sale from this collection. But what  find. One of the top 5 collections I have picked up in the wild!!! Enjoy!!! 😍

Those books are stored in a shed?  Good thing, all good books are inside the house.

The silver and bronze pieces ok be selling this coming weekend and next week I found inside the 130 boxes in the shed. All the golden age and those 4 silver were in the house stored in some square storage boxes. The colors on them all are awesome and most are in great shape. It was awesome to pick thru.

He has 128 boxes left but it’s a lot I don’t collect. I will be doing another trip to look at other silver and bronze I can buy and sell. But all the rare keys I got. The Tec 140 is incredible, the all flash group and green lantern group are really nice. The green hornet 1,2,4 are really clean. Also the silver keys are all really sharp. The Action 252 is at least an 8.0. 😍

128 longs is a lot...I'd be concerned about them being outside in a shed though.  Regardless there would be stuff of value in there for sure!
