Awesome and thanks for the heads up! Been putting in a window today that is an odd size, I still haven't got around to cracking the books open

On the first Sunday of this month my dealer friend invited two friends and I on his final visit to a sale where he was able to cherry pick a storage unit collection. The seller had close to 100 boxes and let us fill shortboxes for $60 each. So I filled up two shortboxes and a half for $150. These are some of the highlights

I'm in the process of buying my cousin's sports card collection and he mentioned a few weeks ago that his son had 3 boxes of comics that he no longer wanted. Of the 360 books less than 50 were worth shipping. Still, nearly everything was high grade. Nothing spectacular save for the ASM #135. It's about a VF+.

Cap 32 went for just under $1.1k, Brick Bradford was $350-$450 and both air fighters around $400 each. iirc

 

The first is the only picture the auctioneer provided on the bill, it shows the Brick but the cap and air fighters are hidden in the stack.

Hard to say with the pics supplied. Seems like kind of a mess. The problem is that unless you can examine them carefully, you might be paying up for a book that might have a centerfold missing or other problems. Often, especially if you are bidding online, you don’t know. People at auctions like this are often pressured and get caught up in the bidding and pay too much. When I pay that kind of money, I don’t gamble. I want to know what I am paying for. Same thing with estate sales. You have half a dozen grabby buyers elbowing you. If I can’t make a sound decision, I just don’t do it. I have been burned more than once getting caught up in the frenzy.

Now, as a seller I have sold large groups of worthless books with just enough “spice” thrown in to create a buzz for real decent money at small local auctions. A lot of folks that don’t really know enough have heard that “comics are worth big money” that let their common sense get the better of them…

There was time to exam them, all the books pictured seemed complete to myself and the other person live., As far as the 2 people bidding via phone for the books I listed the prices for, I'm not sure if they just went with the pictures or called the auctioneer before hand. The phone ins hung up after the above books sold and things went pretty smooth for me and the other live bidder kind of played nice and both came home with some golden age books. It was an estate auction for what looked like a farmer in a small Kansas town held in the local 4h or FFA hall so it wasn't too crazy. I even went back in after I paid and bought my parents a nice old hay trolley.

What I got from a yard sale for $1 each. The signed ashcans were $25 each. The seller went to HS and played on the same football team as Rob Liefeld. He had a box full of about 500 copies of X-Force 1s sealed

Not a garage sale, but a lucky e-bay hit. I bought this lot for the coverless Jet Powers 3 on the bottom left.

Turns out the middle book on top was not incomplete, it just had the cover folded inside.
