DC Comics Presents #22

There are approximately 3 to 5 known copies to exist.

I believe one of these belonged to Bellerules1, another belonged to Doug Sulipa and the 1st to emerge on the scene was on the STL forums.

This copy is only the 4th copy I am aware of. Here's a picture.

:news: Add to your summary that peterpark snagged a copy from a seller here on the boards :news:

So including yours, at least 5 have been brought to light! :golfclap::luhv::takeit:

I was that seller. Bit of "seller's remorse" with something so rare, but Peterpark was a good and fair dude to deal with. Plus, I don't collect Whitman's and I was glad it went to a good home.

...Also, not sure if this was captured already there was a recent DC Presents #22 Whitman sale on eBay not all that long ago:

All these comics on your list are interesting due to scarcity in high grades:

Battle of the Planets 8

Road Runner 91

Bugs Bunny 222

Daffy Duck 129

Mickey Mouse 207

Pink Panther 75

Porky Pig 98

Super Goof 61

Walt Disney's Comics and Stories 479

I got my list of scarce Whitman's from DOUG SULIPA'S comic site (http://www.dougcomicworld.com/INVENTORY-WhitmanComicsSite.html.) The site can be a bear to read, but it is full of good information concerning the scarcest 68 Whitman's.

I don't use GPA and was curious to find out what were some of the biggest Whitman sales of 2013? hm

I was searching in Google and found these two:

Uncle Scrooge #179 CGC 9.6 - $3,350?

Black Hole #4 CGC 9.8 - $2,634 in June 2013

Are there any other sales that have come close to these recently? If so, the Whitman appreciation thread may get a lot busier for 2014! :applause:

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (thumbs u

This is what is on its way to me from Canada. I do not know whether to open it or grade it and add it to my set. What would you do Bellerules? This is so very rare un-opened. I can find higher grade than these to have graded but I could never find this in 20 years I think.

Oh I also have a Whitman Black Hole #4 9.8 coming to me !

I AM IN WHITMAN HEAVEN !!

Congrats. Nice score. I'd leave it in the bag. Not the highest grade as the do have some spine ticks next to the staples, bit so rare to find still sealed. Have only seen another sealed example before, and it was a 3 pack. I suspect 3 packs were for the US and the 2 packs were for Canada.

+1

If they were super high-grade copies it would be tempting to unseal them.

But as they are, I would leave them sealed. They're in nice enough condition - both the books and the bag - that they're an excellent example of a sealed specimen.

Congrats on the pick-up! :applause:

:preach: Without truly knowing specifically what the condition of the books are in the packet, I wouldn't open it! Just my 2c Bonnie! (thumbs u
