GAMBIT
its a good looking book for the grade.. I do love how people buy old labels in hope to get a resub or whatever. and get a higher grade.. if you look at the book.. it will not get any better then a 4.5 no matter what anyone "does" to it... does it take away for the beauty of the book.. Not at all!.. and any grade hulk 1 is a great book!.. but those paying a " premium " for the old label , in hopes to get a higher grade will be unhappy IMO
jaja-mon12
So, who has a prediction on what this fine specimen will sell for on HA?! Right now it's at $15K! I'm thinking $60K with the premium, maybe more! I can't remember seeing a CGC 8.5 sell recently. Especially, not one belonging to a pedigree or collection. Now at $42.5K, $50.8K with the premium and 4+ days left until floor bidding! Dang! Someone from Beantown could've bought me a new Yankees jersey! I still believe it will go for over $60K! $58.3K today, not a bad! It may be awhile before another 8.5 or higher shows up for sale again! Anyone know who owns that only CGC 9.4 copy in the census? horsehater27
Hello guys , i have a Hulk #1 question to ask and you guys are comprised of some of the most top notch collectors in the world . So here goes. I am by chance not a collector that could drop thousands of dollars on a hulk #1 but as of right now i have a chance to get one, The gentle man who is selling the hulk #1 said the raw grade is a 1.5 to a 2.0 , he wants $2300 for the raw book and is also throwing in a 5.0 iron-man #55 raw as well. My question is what would the value of a current 1.5 to a 2.0 be going for, i just don't want to over pay for one or it be over graded, i do have a picture of the book and i have bought from this guy before. I think the grade is lower but if you guys could let me know i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again. Chiefs1313
If no restoration and complete and it is 2.0 it is a great deal. It is impossible to really determine from just that pic.

Based on the image of the book posted, looks like 1.5-2.0 but without fully FC/BC scans and having book in hand its hard to grade. Assuming 1.5-2.0, $2300 is a decent price. johnny54321
I just bought a 2.0 for $3200. If the rest of the book is consistent with what is shown in the picture, and there is no restoration; I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I think the grade is lower but if you guys could let me know i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again. Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/img] The comic has great eye appeal and colors. Excellent looking low grade book. However, it looks like the spine is completely split. I think it would grade 1.5 max. Last sale of a CGC 1.0 was $2,025 (December 2012) Last sale of a CGC 1.5 was $2,350 (November 2013) link to eBay auction Those numbers are GPA; however, with low grade books you can't focus on the number grade of previous sales. You have to factor in eye appeal. I've seen CGC 1.5's that look much better than CGC 3.0's. It's all a matter of what defects bother you the most. The damage is primarily on the edges of the book giving it a real nice eye appeal. Hulk himself looks great! You have to ask is it nice enough for you to be happy with it? If so, the price does seem reasonable. Mabye you could ask for the costs of getting it graded subtracted from the $2,300? You probably won't get more than that. Even if this one received a CGC 1.0 it would be on the top end of that because of the eye appeal. (thumbs u If you like it go for it!

Comicdey
Time for my re-entry into the Hulk 1 club. This is my third copy of this wonderful purple cover book, and by far the nicest copy I've ever owned. So I have in my hands an Original Owner books of which I am the official second owner. Of course CGC has had it in their hands for a little bit of time, and it's been in a few other peoples hands too during the transaction, but none of those folks officially owned the book. Well I guess the inheriter did? This Hulk 1 comes from a large group of comics out of Hawaii that made it's way to the mainland in Florida. It's my understanding that the owners Aunt brought comics home from where she worked at a pharmacy to the tune of 30 long boxes. When she passed, the relatives received the comics and out of all the books, most 70's-90's. Only a few gems were found including a Hulk 1 and 181 (CGC 9.2). I was lucky enough to get a text from my good buddy Mark1 who came across this Hulk 1 and was going to help sell it on the boards. I asked how much, and then immediately said "I'll take it". Mark1 was a bit surprised as I'm mainly a GA GGA collector and pre-hero TOS completionist, but was happy to help me make the deal. The owner wanted cash and cash only, so I proceeded to send Mark a check, he went to the bank, cashed it and met up to do the deal for me with lots of 100's. I went off to Fairbanks for a hockey tournament and then off to Houston for work. Upon my return there was a wonderfully packed box sitting in my closet waiting for me to open it. After a few days when I finally had a spare moment, I opened the package to find the book had safely arrived and now will sit with my other SA Marvel keys in the collection. The book is unpressed, is extremely bright colored, and most of the defects are non color breaking. To say it has "potential" is probably an understatement, but it's going to sit in this slab next to my TOS 39 for a bit to see if he settles in. I'd like to give a big shout out to Mark1 for the efforts he made to help me in this deal. Lots of money exchanged hands on a word and trust and everything went smooth as silk. Now sadly my scanner isn't too great, but here is my new to me Hulk 1 from 1962. Thanks for the shout out and it was awesome to be involved in the deal for you. I think it's a special copy and haven't seen many copies that look this nice in 5.5. Not one bit of Marvel chipping and the edges are crisp. Now, i'm posting some of my pics of YOUR Hulk 1 because your scanner blows. Enjoy it bro! I almost couldn't pack it up and ship it off to you...it is really sweet
