A great looking copy.

Probably one of those books I'll never be able to buy now since every other copy will look ugly in comparison.

No kidding. I keep on clicking back on the thread and scrolling up and down on that Dale Evans. Stunning! :applause:

but this Star Spangled 102, with the other Fred - Fred Ray - doing the fantastic image on which all the swipes are based.

Or is it the other way around? I get so confused!

Great cover! Ray is so under-appreciated...

What a cover! :applause::headbang::applause: Great technique on the art - looks like grease pencil on Ross or coquille board. Don't see that on too many comic covers!

Good cover and the interior art was great for Dale too but I like the photo covers just as much.

There is a young cowboy, he lives on the range

His horse and his cattle are his only companions

He works in the saddle and sleeps in the canyons

Waiting for summer, his pastures to change

And as the moon rises he sits by his fire

Thinking about women and glasses of beer

And closing his eyes as the doggies retire

He sings out a song which is soft but it's clear

As if maybe someone could hear

Goodnight you moonlight ladies

Rockabye sweet baby James

Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose

Won't you let me go down in my dreams

And rockabye sweet baby James

A great Kinstler cover and definitely the best copy I've seen.

...while at the other end of the spectrum, this one has a fine effort by Mr. Kinstler as well.... GOD BLESS....

That's another excellent Kinstler cover and I don't think I've seen the British version before.

Whip Wilson #1 (IW) has the same cover but with a blue background.

That is a cool cover.

Somewhat related since this is the Western thread, I have been enjoying tremendously a set of late 1970's radio shows about the Gunsmoke radio show complete with interviews with the main principals of the original show: writers, producers, directors and actors. It provides a nice look at the show both from the content and production angle. Should be of interest to some here.

I ran across it in the Podcast feed of the Jack Benny OTR Podcast.

Here's the link to the first of 5 shows - https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/jack_benny/episodes/2017-03-07T21_12_49-08_00
