Dave Fun Fact #127. You may have noticed quite a few copies of old Hot Rod magazines up on E-bay from Dave's estate. He had wanted to do a story about the dry lake racers of the 40's and 50's in So Cal.

I have to admit that I had never heard of Dave Stevens until he died. I then discovered Planet Comics #1 and ended up with a CGC 9.8 of that one.

 

Then I got several more of his books, just for the covers and CGC SS.

 

Then I acquired his large book, "Brush With Passion".

 

I love his work, but I rarely care what an artists name is. I just admire good stuff when I see it.

 

I am probably the longest collecting guy here, that has never cared about who did what on a comic book. I just like what I like. I can not look at a book and tell you who did it, or who wrote it. I can only tell you if I like it or I don't.

A seldom seen Dave book... Back Issues 1983... This isn't a comic, it's a catalogue for, well, back issues of Men's Magazines (Playboy, Oui, etc.)... But what a great "Marilyn"-esque cover!

Do you know what #'s? These are not easy to find. I looked at 20 covers at least and only saw 2 with his handywork.
