I'm i the only one wondering why a guy who uses a crossbow to make silent kills would drive around on the loudest motherf :censored: motorcycle..... doh!

Cause it's cool? That's the reason I always get when I ask about why someone has those pipes on their Harley.

Damn. I was really hoping for the prison. :(

That is one part of the book I hope they do imitate because so far, to me anyway, it was the best part in the book series.

I think they could do a really sweet job recreating this.

Although somehow I doubt they would kill off the same number of the group like they did in the book.

I also hope that the series will hold well enough in the ratings so that they can have more then just 3 or 4 seasons. :wishluck:

My younger brother (13 years old) and I are huge walking dead fans. We tried to get our mom into the show but she found it boring haha

I thought the 1st episode of the 2nd season was good but draggy. I want to get more input from people who havent read the comic but are watching the show..

Also someone needs to die soon in that show..

True, I don't think the show will ever be as good as the book. Just to much stuff in the book they wont or can't get away with showing on TV.

really...even being an AMC show ???

I've always thought that since they're on AMC, they can do pretty much anything they like.... kinda like the Sopranos ???

Sopranos was on HBO, HBO is hardcore. They do anything they like. AMC not so much..

Well it's a basic cable vs. pay cable thing.

I think they can push the envelope if they wanted to on AMC. Just watch Son's of Anarchy on FX...in last weeks episode someone was shot through the eye (shown) they visited a porno shoot (A LOT was shown, but not everything), and people were swearing up a storm.

AMC and FX should be on equal footing in terms of what they can get away with. At this point it's more time slot than anything else. As long as it's 10 EST/9 CST almost anything goes.

Hell...check out comedy central. Their roasts of various celebs are heavily bleeped and edited during regular showings but any showing that starts after midnight est are totally unedited and unbleeped.

For such a character driven comic, it's a shame that I don't give a rats about any of the characters in the show

I definitely agree. However, I thought they made some progress in character development in the last episode.

By this time in the book, we had a lot of character development. It is funny because I think Shane's death wasn't so much about getting the bad guy as it was developing Rick and Carl. We got to see how they handled the situation. Rick seems clueless in the series. The comic was more interesting because Rick had to handle the truth about Lori and Shane from nearly the beginning.

Still, I'm keeping my hopes up about the series. I have given it a lot more time than I have given any other series.

I've found this to be true as well. I know several people who are watching the show, but never read the comic.

People who already like zombie stories get it. The pacing is about learning the characters and then watching them deal with the stress of horror survival. Zombies are suppose to be a slow build, because they aren't fast. They are slow and easy to kill.

George Romero always said, a true zombie story is about the horrors of PEOPLE reacting during the zombie crisis.

I think a lot of mainstream people just want action, action, action, and more action. 2c

I agree 100%.

As I was reading this thread I immediately thought of Sons of Anarchy too. Those gunshots to the face where explicit. They showed everything from the front view too, not the back of the head.

SOA also had a rape scene 2 seasons ago as well. Henry Rollins joined the cast and his character raped Katey Segal's character.

I think The Walking Dead TV show should be able to do everything from the comic. Even the Governor & Michonne stuff.

This is my problem with movies and tv today. I understand a majority wants this, but at least throw me a bone once in a while.

I'd list him at the top as well followed by the guy who should already be dead by now. I like Shane's character but I I wonder like someone pointed out that Rick's character seems to have suffered.

In the comic Rick dealing with Lori/Shane and then how he reacts to Judy is part of Rick's character. Now I tend to side with Shane and almost want Rick out of the picture. The scene outside the church with Shane/Lori really hit this home. Other then the Zombies and everything that goes with that what internal conflicts does Rick have? Seems like a lucky SOB from my point of view. His family unit is intact and he is surrounded by potential zombie fodder. Nothing like the comic in that regard.

That being said. I LOVE the show. This is a grade A attempt to bring Walking Dead to the small screen.

I almost wonder if this is truly how Kirkman wants things to pan out. He might have made some (admitted) mistakes but the comic was his sole creation (for the most part). I'm sure he there are many people he has to answer to and take input from in this series. Maybe that is why there is somewhat of a disconnect. I do feel the show is inferior to the book but I still watch it. I almost feel compelled to see how the two compare- even if watching it can be a joyless experience.

I am sad now.

Remember, TV Rick knows about the pregnancy (I'm pretty sure that's what was whispered to him). Which means TV Rick either knows Lori had an affair, or will when the birth timeline gets revealed (like in the comics). I think it will blow up soon on the TV show too.
