Popular Post Endymion
Started getting into commissions last year, and am slowly building out a collection of Green Lanterns. Managed to get some of my favourite artists so far - Doc Shaner, Daniel Warren Johnson, Dave Wachter, Khary Randolph are a few below. We have the tradition of the Franco-Belge but also a lot of young artists. There are great comic shops. e.g. Mekanik https://www.instagram.com/p/CM1-9_EHKhk/ Antwerps has some excellent museums... e.g. the https://www.museummayervandenbergh.be/en where you can see Mad Meg. Popular Post Caltex98
When Jeff Shultz did the huge commission The Archies in the Summer of '69 for me in 2014 I thought that the four snapshots in it would make great individual commissions by themselves. So a while ago I asked Jeff if he had time to try this hand at this and he was kind to oblige. And here they are; Four pictures that chronicles The Archies rise to fame. In the first one we see the core five, Archie, Betty, Reggie, Veronica & Jughead, having a hootenanny around a campfire at the beach. The Archies doing a small club date at Pop's Choklit Shoppe playing for friends and locals. When The Archies singles starts to get airplay and are being bought by teenagers all over the country it is only natural that we see Sabrina & Harvey dance to Sugar, Sugar in Sabrina's room while an utterly annyoed Salem is pressing the paws to his ears in desperation. The last snapshot shows The Archies waving goodbye to their fans, Beatles style, as they depart to yet another tour date. Click on the pictures to see larger scans in my Jeff Shultz CAF gallery. Popular Post alexgross.com
well, this is a little bit different since this is a commission that i painted for someone, but i thought this group might appreciate it. it's a recreation of alex schomburg's SUB-MARINER 18 cover. it's oil on canvas, 37 x 24 inches. I tried to keep it super faithful to the original drawing, other than revising the sharks and losing the Angel inset star thing. Color-wise, i tried to make it a bit more interesting/realistic and let subby be more of the focus. i'm happy with how it came out, and plan to do another one for the same client later this year. here's my piece as well as an image of the original cover by the great Alex Schomburg. Rick2you2
Jim Calafiore has taken to doing "warm-up" illustrations consisting of bookmarks of characters at someone's request. They are $100 each, and $10 for shipping (he will also have ready-made ones at the Garden State Comic Fest (in 2 weeks). This is one he did for me of the Phantom Stranger: If you are interested, he can be found on Facebook. Very easy to deal with. He also did a really terrific Gumby and Pokey (which I may get if it is still available at the show, and I never even liked Gumby and Pokey).
