can Decepticon win a prize for bringing order to chaotic never ending sales threads

I recommend rallying enough people here that have benefited from his extremely kind assistance so CGC realizes how much an impact he has had.

He is definitely incredible in organizing chaos, with no payback required!

A forumite of the year award might be in order.

I agree with providing some recognition to Decepticon for his volunteer work in the sales threads.

I would also like to see some recognition for Ghost Town and Tom Skahan. Those guys have pictures for all their books - over 1000 total. We benefit by getting to see all those books and they both have some really nice books. That kind of effort should be recognized. I scan all my books too so I understand just how much work those guys must have done - hundreds of hours at least.

In the copper/modern area I think Beach Bum could win another award. He has some very long runs that are 100% complete in high-grade. I also like Silent Master's Joe run.

+1

Without a doubt Ghost Town & Tom should indeed get done recognition. I can't tell you how many times I reference Ghost Town's books for looking at covers or CGC notes.

Silent Master's runs are very, very impressive and Beach Bum obviously deserves recognition for his thoroughness.

My addition would be Telerites. Jeff has a certain mutated terrapin book that has stood alone at the top slot of the census for quite some time.....and possibly will for many more years. Come on, TMNT fan or not, that book is so iconic and coveted for the Copper Age how can it not be award worthy?

We’re looking for the world’s greatest sets. Make sure yours are among them, and see if your collection has what it takes! Deadline for set registration is June 17.

Registry Set Awards

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

•The Three Best Golden Age Sets (comics published starting with Action Comics #1 (June 1938) through 1959)

•The Three Best Silver Age Sets (comics published 1960 through 1969)

•The Three Best Bronze Age Sets (comics published 1970 through 1979)

•The Three Best Copper Age Sets (comics published 1980 through 1989)

•The Three Best Modern Age Sets (comics published 1990 through the present)

•The Three Best Presented Sets (sets with the best descriptive text and images)

•The One Best Magazine Set

•One Collector for Overall Achievement in Comics Collecting (this will be based on a collector’s overall collection of Registry sets)

Take the honors in one of these categories, and you’ll receive a personalized plaque, an icon of recognition next to your set’s Registry listing, and a one-year Premium membership in the Collectors Society.

Overall quality, balance and completion, in addition to Registry score, will all be important considerations when judging sets in competitive categories.

Additionally, collectors with the top set in each set type category will receive an icon of recognition by his / her set in the Registry and a certificate of achievement.

To participate, just enter your set online in the Comics Registry.

Working hard on dial up on my weekends for one of these two now. My Registry descriptions are all changed to my own words and are almost completed, most of my pictures are loaded, I'm just working on my "Easter Eggs"(11 more pictures) and proof reading my new intro. My Registry Set is now becoming more what I orginally wanted it to be when I started it in 2008. :wishluck:

:cloud9: Keep at it, Jerel.

I just completed my Rocketeer set in at least digging up all the books. Now, to go back and reread all the stories so I can summarize each chapter.

I was gonna start up that random set we discussed earlier last month, but I wanna finish up this one, so I can add tweaks here and there. It would be like doing a "Mighty Joe Young" Registry Set to Locke & Key's "King Kong". lol

Just a note here from someone on the 'inside' regarding the Best Presented category. We look for original comments. If the comments contain only text that already appears on the label or something that can be found on another website we will not necessarily rule your set out completely but we definitely try to find the sets where users are providing original information.

Is there a story behind how you acquired the book? Does it relate to some time in your life? Is there a specific aspect of the story that appeals to you?

I love this category because anyone can win it.

:applause:
