Anybody get the Phantom Stranger 10 CGC 9.6 on the link ? Cant imagine that book lasted very long before a buy order was placed at the asking price of $450.

I believe the original listing price was $650. IMO $450 is still a GREAT price for the seller.

650 to 450 in 1 day ? Wonder what made him bring it down so fast without letting the market dictate if anybody would bite near the original price.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure if $650 was the original price, but I'm fairly certain it was more than $450. Perhaps $550? confused-smiley-013.gif

Yeah..I think he short changed himself. Makes it cheaper in the long run, so I ain't complaining--provided this amount makes more copies come forth--which I think there's enough there for it considering surrounding issues barely break $200 in 9.6.

There are a bunch of nice horror books listed on Comiclink right now...are they the books that traded hands in San Diego already? Very agressive prices.
Doubt it. The Wrightson cover books weren't involved in the SD deal. Plus, no way they could come back that fast unless they sent it in via Express screwy.gif

Aggressive--yes. Based on past paid prices--yes. Will they get it? Don't think so. Unless of course it's a missing issue in my set. That's the key. cool.gif

I saw that. That was over $260 more then the last recorded cgc 9.4 sale of $737 on Feb of 2004.

Well technically, I bought a HOM 174 for around $900 or so from greggy, so that's at least two in a row. That's still a good jump, but its warranted because it's increasingly being called a "key". In reality it has reprinted stories and no Cain-just a cool cover and being first in the new mystery format.

and it has an Adam's involvement on the cover.

Has this been documented/proved somewhere? The info I see hasn't been conclusive.

I feel a great disturbance in the force...as if millions of screams...suddenly silenced.

Then it came……..a book so beautiful that the other surrounding slabs melted in its presence. A word could not capture its beauty only an action…….

This must've been the great disturbance. I'm speachless. headbang.gif

Doesn't that character in the other dimension look like Qbert? tongue.gif

Beautiful book Buck congrats, but one of Adam's more unusual covers.

Even with Qbert and the gang about to cross over from the Arcade dimension, this cover never did anything for me. confused-smiley-013.gif

I decided to stop wondering how nice my HOM 174 was and dug it out. Well, it's pretty nice but does have some very minor flaws.

The top staple looks like it has a problem, but actually it doesn't. Looks like maybe a little extra paper from the printer, but the staple is nice and tight. On the reading edge there is the faintest indent , that should be visible in the picture
. The top corner suffered a bump while in the bag at some point, very minor and evident in the scan Also, just a couple tiny fleks on the top edge of the cover. Spine look like it may have one small stress. What do you guys think?

I bought it for $9.75 in July of 1997 as a VF+. Here is a WAY TOO BIG scan of the cover.

The same dealer had the classic (was it GREAT comics, Golden Age) with the Hitler goes to hell cover and story. Anyway, that was a nice FINE and it was priced at $275. I waited for just a couple of days, went back to buy it, and it had sold the day before to a guy from Chicago. (This all took place in Orlando, FL.)

Anyway, here is the giant pic of the HOM 174.Untitled-2.jpg

Just a samll heads up to those interested, a friend of mine will be ebaying a group of Oakland HOM's soon. I saw the books at his place the other weekend, and it's all 9.4's,a nd 9.6's, with 2 qual'd books.

I can't remember his ebay (elec_sec2???) name but invariably you'll see them up soon enough.

Best.
