Tales to Astonish #27.

First appearance of Ant-Man for $500 in "Good" condition? Get out of here.

No one likes Ant-Man, and if you say you do, you're lying.

I like ant man.

That's where you're wrong, I LOVE this book, and Ant-Man came before 98% of mainstream Marvel super-heroes so he's a veteran. This is a personal grail of mine.

And no, I'm not lying. ;)

Ok. I'm sorry.

:foryou:

I do agree with you though, it is pretty expensive for a fairly B-List character.

I want a copy, but don't think it should be nearly as pricey as it is. As has been brought up before, this is just a monster story that got lucky when the character was picked up for an ongoing series. If the guy in the beehive had won then TOS #32 would go for even more stupid money than it already does when you can find a HG copy.

I paid $150 for an Uncanny X-Men #266 at 9.8, so I'm guilty of paying a lot for a character I like.

Pep 22. Not hating on it, but I just can't believe the prices it commands.

It is a major first appearance, and it's super rare. (shrug)

$200...for a low grade bronze book that isn't the first appearance of Wolverine. Why?

And thus the arguing and relative value debates begin.

Amazing Fantasy #1 in any grade under VF. Plentiful in all grades, if people did not hoard it it would be cheaper.

Hulk 181- Awesome 1st appearance. But they are everywhere and over priced.

Walking Dead #1- seriously. Paying over $100.00 is just stoopid money for a modern. Ultra rare in 9.8 riiiiight...

GL 76- I agree with everything that has been said.

Batman 227- you are paying a HUGE premium for a REALLY cool cover. Anyone wanna tell me what the story is inside. (hint: most people buy them slabbed and never open them)

Conan #1 - seriously 1K for a book that is no longer published by Marvel. (last I checked)

Showcase 22- Beater copies sell for multiples what they did a few years back. I think they were accurate a few years back.

Captain America 100- Cool cover and all, but why so much money?

Chew #1 - WTF is this book anyways..

Amazing Spider-Man 300 - another HTF book in 9.8 lol

Werewolf by night 32 - Ummm yea. 1st Moon Knight in a REALLY unpopular series..

Tomb Of Dracula 10 - NOBODY cares about Blade anymore.

ALL-Flash #1 - A GA #1 that is not worth even 50% of it's OSPG price. You pretty much NEVER see this book in anything but B.I.N form. Wanna talk about a dead duck..

Detective Comics #400 - Man-Bat... Seriously, crappy character.

Amazing Spider-Man #50 - The Kingpin was made famous by Frank Miller. That book is disturbingly over priced.

Spidey #28 - I will never understand why thi book is so expensive.

I think this should spark some debate.

What are comics that you personally can't understand why they cost so much.

I know I'll get flack for this, but I personally can't see why Adventure Comics #247 is so expensive. I know it's the first Legion, but that book goes for stupid money.

This was the X-men #94/GSX #1 of the Silver Age. Very hot book at one time.

If I remember correctly, didn't it only start really skyrocketing in price after the Levitz/ Giffen run with the 'Great Darkness Saga' storyline, early 1980s?

I also LOVE the entire TTA run up to the Sub Mariner joining. Top ten series I want to collect. TTA 27 is pretty classic in covers!
