I can't let Jack's 100th birthday go by without some Kirby love in this thread. Here's one of his most powerful covers: Foxhole #1 from October, 1954.

@Robot Man I was told that, at the time that I submitted these, the Salida collection was so new at that the store stamps weren't recognized.  I'm sure that if I were to resubmit them they would be properly noted and I think they might bump up a bit in grade, but why waste the money or a resub?

One of my favorite war covers. Nice looking copy too.

I see your point. None of mine are even slabbed at all. Just looked like they missed them. The markings are well known if you decided ever to sell them. Kind of odd that they noted the one with out the "Cookies" stamp.

Agreed on both counts. It's a book I'd love to add to my collection at one point.

Only recently did I become aware of the source material for Kirby's cover - Joseph Hirsch's High Visibility Wrap

which itself was used on the cover for the June 1951 cover of Stag -

Foxhole#1 is a true classic. I bought a copy a few years ago and just this week I got a #3. I guess I am collecting them now too...
