almost seems that certain people are defensive that someone is calling them out on there own scam, anywhere else some would consider as maybe, an option, that theses things could/have happened. i hope people read this thread and understand not all people are good nature and that some people are trying scam them and to watch out. and do your own research.

I post in this thread a lot and I also posted a lot of times in the Old "Modern Heating Up On eBay" Thread.

 

When I post books here in this thread, I do it because I know there's a lot of other collectors out there, just like me that have been collecting for 20+ years and have thousands of books boxed up. Knowing that, I try to let others know that a book is selling for good money so that they can sell their copy or copies. So they'll have a chance to be able to recover some of the money they've spent on Comics over the years. It's called helping out, this a community here and we all try to work together and help each other. If you don't like that kind of thing then you probably won't last very long here.

 

If you're going to follow this thread to try to "make a living on it", it'll never happen. You might get lucky a few times and run across a few of these books at a Comic Shop or at a Con and get them really cheap. But the chances of that happening are slim. When this thread was started it was made to help other people, it wasn't made for people to get rich quick!!

 

This thread is here to alert other collectors, so that if they know they have one of these books that now is the time to sell it. So it would be worth their time to go dig it out and list it. Not to run out and buy as many copies as you can find.

 

I know I never tell anyone hey run over to eBay and pay these high prices then re list them on eBay and sell them for higher prices. If someone does that I bet they wont make any money at all on what they buy. You'll end up losing a lot of money if you do that. So I don't see why you call it a scam, when someone tries to help other people move some of their books, that they didn't know were selling for these high prices. Unless you call helping others a scam.

 

Not everyone has time to follow every single book that's ever been published. So it's nice to have a place to go and see what's selling for more than cover price.

 

Also I never say a book is HOT just because one seller got lucky and sold 1 copy of something for 10X what they've been selling for. Every time I post here and tell people something is HOT I BACK UP my claims of a book being HOT with lots of proof. Just like this post that I made a few days ago.

Vengeance of Bane has been pretty hot for the last 5 to 7 months!! But it's really been taking off lately!! When Raw Copies were hitting the $30 to $40 price a few months ago I thought it was going to stay at those prices until the New Batman Movie comes out.

 

Boy I was wrong about Raw Copies staying at around $30 to $40!! They've been consistently selling for around $60 to $90 in the last 2 months!!

I find it funny that bazzle has been here for only one of the 'moderns heating up on ebay threads' and he thinks he's figured out a scam that is going on. People actually post items that are heating up on ebay here. I know that might seem like a hard concept that one would actually post material relevant to a topic but it does happen here quite often. WDMARVELCOMICS is a great source of some of this knowledge.

 

Bazzle, here is a serious tip though, "blue horseshoe loves anacott steel". Trust me, its a solid investment.

95% of the boardies here are pretend junior dealers looking to make a buck to support their collecting habits. (including me, i don't mean that to be derogative) advertising here about how hot a book is isn't going to make them/us think it is hot, seeing multiple sales at multiples of cover price on ebay will make us/them think the book is hot. to the extent we're talking about a new release, it may prompt some of us to run to our local LCS and clean out the rack (like I did on skullkickers and 27) to flip here and on ebay, but folks here generally aren't going to pay premium prices for anything until there is a FMV established on ebay or, maybe, if there is a buzz well beyond these boards (like knowing in advance the print-run on some book was 5, but half got destroyed in a flood, etc.).

 

basically, you're not going to "pull one over" on this group. whether it is pumping a new issue up here to flip or posting as a 9.8 (raw) and obvious 9.0 book, etc. if you do, someone will pizz on your thread anyway.

 

there are no secrets. predicting which new book will be a short-term hit is tricky. even assuming nothing marvel or DC pumps out can be a good flip because the print-runs are too big and there are no surprises can turn out to be wrong.
