DCBS has given up on ordering a lot of variants. They are not offering the Star Wars 40th anniversary variants for example. There are plenty of copies out there, just not from DCBS.

They haven't given up ordering them, they've merely given up offering them for sale. I see them for sale on Ebay through their account later.

You are saying DCBS is offering the Star Wars 40th anniversary variants, action figure variants, and others for sale on eBay? hm

Here is my inquiry to DCBS concerning the 40th anniversary variants on January 13th:

I see some retailers are taking orders for the Star Wars 40th anniversary variant covers. Are these variant covers you will be able to offer to your customers?

And here was the response:

We apologize but we are not offering these variants to order.

Thank you for your business! Please let us know if you have any questions.

I would not be happy to know they are offering these variants for sale on eBay rather than to their subscription customers.

DCBS isn't diamond. They can do whatever they want with their books I would think.

I'm fine not seeing it again, I think it looks awful.

Then you're probably glad there's only 12 graded copies after 3 years, in spite of its high price tag. (thumbs u

And a quick check shows:

http://stores.ebay.com/Discount-Comic-Book-Service/_i.html?_nkw=star+wars&submit=Search&_sid=920195

Basically books and trinkets they over-ordered. No 40th anniversary variants, action figure variants, or Skottie variants.

As an addendum to this, DCBS can't really know if they qualify for these variants with weird ordering requirements until all the orders come in. Just as an example:

DEC16 1074 D4 _________ DARTH MAUL #1 (OF 5) STAR WARS 40TH ANNIVERSARY VAR (75960608372500171) ..........$4.99 = $ _________ 02/01/17 01/09/17

(NOTE: Meet or exceed 125% of orders for Star Wars Han Solo #2 (MAY160905) with orders for Darth Maul #1 regular cover, and this variant is order all you want.)

DEC16 1079 D4 _________ STAR WARS POE DAMERON #11 STAR WARS 40TH ANNIV VAR (75960608458601131) ...$3.99 = $ _________ 02/15/17 01/23/17

(NOTE: Meet or exceed 90% of orders for Star Wars Poe Dameron #6 (JUL161043) with orders for Star Wars Poe Dameron #11 regular cover, and this variant is order all you want.)

Sales for Star Wars Poe Dameron:

#1 175,322

#2 68,922

#3 60,889

#4 57,712

#5 52,281

#6 50,275

#7 47,878

#8 43,034

#9 38,839

DCBS is able to offer deep discounts and flat rate shipping because every order is a guaranteed sale. In the case of ratio variants, the extra copies in order to qualify is paid for by the person wanting the variant. With themed variants such as SW 40th anniv, Young, Hip Hop, Action Figure, order calculations is more complex.

That said, I do wish they'd offer the variants that they do qualify for on the following month in between regular Previews preorder deadline and the Final Order Cutoff. Alas, probably too much work and not much reward to calculate which variants they qualify for and post them on the website with a really short ordering window.

This was CGC's Stance on the GCS first appearance

This is CGC response:

"Gotham City Sirens" is the name of the series they are in, but it is not a team name like "The Avengers". So we make no special notation for it.

Sincerely,

So then the narrative for their first appearance REALLY matters.

Thanks.

Seems more like there is no "official" first appearance to me due to lack of an official team name. Free for all, I guess. (shrug)

Again, personally as an end-user/buyer/collector, my choice is GCS #1.

I think you know where I stand ;)

In this case I can't help but choose the narrative over the logo.

Personally, GCS #1 wins me over on the narrative as well. They've worked together multiple times but GCS #1 is where they decide to officially team up.

I'd be happy to own both.

No accounting for taste. (shrug)

Easily my favourite Punisher cover, by a hot artist, and legitimately hard to find. A nice trifecta for those who like to pay attention to these things. ;)

Just sold my entire GSC runs with #1 graded as an 9.8, got $381. Not bad at all.

That was actually the first time I heard about the book.

It took me over five months to find a copy after that (on ebay, natch) right about the same time Seven to Eternity was starting to get some buzz.

Ah name calling....the last bastion of a man without an argument :baiting:

Divad I thought you of all people actually read the comics?

Name calling? Mr. Teenie-Weenie would be name calling - I was being friendly. Of course I read them, and I read all three in question. I think there a VG argument for CW89, none for Tec850, and as to GCS1 (it's already cool enough). lol

dunno about heating up as I only see one sale, but this was a pleasant surprise as I see I have a couple of copies I got a few years ago when my shop dumped all his variants to make room on the shelf for the next batch. if i recall he had it priced at $18, so I listed it here for $9 with no interest...

What was the ratio on this one?

what's wrong with the cover? when you see something that looks like street graffiti does it makes you angry and just can't look at it?

I should have included a wink, not trying to be meanween :).

I don't care if you disagree on tec850, if the actually story by Dini can't convince you then nothing can but Catwoman 89 is irrelevant.
