2011 Collecting Goals: How'd you do?

43 posts in this topic

hm...

Purchased some Bronze Age books (keys & partial runs)...

Decreasing Modern Age titles: With the advent of the "New 52", Warren Ellis writing Secret Avengers, and Miles Morales as the new Ultimate Spider-Man...that didn't happen... (tsk)

Comics read in 2011: Will update soon, I promise...

Submissions: Submitted a Copper sig and a Modern at Mid-Ohio; hopefully will get them back before the end of this year...

- Very successful year for acquiring beautifully-presenting copies of many BA Marvel and DC books that are personal key issues, as well as the scarcest Corben underground.  I can't complain.

- I stopped buying new comic book issues.  So far I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

- Overall then, 2011 was very enjoyable, positive and productive. (thumbs u

Got rid of four boxes of drek, hopefully to be repeated next year.

Did ok with my Avengers run.

Otherwise, a complete lack of focus and discipline meant I spent too much money on any purdy looking book that caught my eye. doh!

2012 goals:

Clear out all the crepe so that I can enjoy my core collection.

Finish my Avengers 1-200 run (13 books to go).

Get an AF 15 in nice presenting 4.0 ish grade.

Continue to learn from and be entertained by all you good folks here on the boards. (thumbs u

[font:Book Antiqua]I am doing great

Once that I decide what I want

it was just a matter of patience, money and opportunity

I slip a little bit here and there

but overall in the right track to completing my collection...[/font]

Ares,

I wish you all the best with the last item on your list. My second son was born last Friday, decided to come early, hence probably the smallest addition to the comic collecting fraternity - 2lb 2oz.

All the best :wishluck:

Not too well. Goals were finish runs of TMNT, Usagi Yojimbo, Omaha, Elfquest, and Love And Rockets. I completed the Omaha run and that's it. I lost control of my collection, bought a bunch of doubles (20+ just in my TMNT run) and had no account of what I had. I just started reorganizing so I can focus next year.

But this year I did complete some good sets that weren't on the agenda as well as score some super neat and hard to find comics.
