1000 comics in 2012 book club

Action Comics #11, #12 & #0: I’m beginning to hate this book – hate the writing, hate the art and hate the throwing away of seven decades of continuity for some ham-fisted ‘recreating’ of Superman for the 21st century. Did I mention I hated it?

All Star Western #11, #12, #13 & #0: Somebody please bring back the real Jonah Hex.

Animal Man #11, #12 & #0: A cross-over with Swamp Thing and a great read. The ‘new’ origin tale in #0 is a nice twist as well.

Aquaman #11, #12 & #0: What started out as a really good book has unfortunately turned into a somewhat pedestrian one. At least the #0 was interesting.

Bat Girl #11, #12 & #0: Yawn.

Batman #11, #12 & #0: Probably the best DC book at the moment.

Batman & Robin #11, #12 & #0: I find Batman’s son to be rather annoying.

Batman the Dark Night #11, #12, #13 & #0: A delve into the mind of the Scarecrow and some insights into Batman’s origin – this title gets better with every issue.

Batwing #11, #12 & #0: I can’t believe that this book is still being published.

Batwoman #11, #12, #13 & #0: A book with a serious dichotomy – beautiful art which does not gel with the confused writing making the whole thing impenetrable.

Birds of Prey #11, #12, #13 & #0: Predictable and dull.

Blue Beetle #11, #12, #13 & #0: Tedious super-hero squabbling.

Captain Atom #11, #12 & #0: Somebody should split this atom.

Catwoman #11, #12, #13 & #0: Unimaginably terrible in all respects.

DCU Presents #11, #12, #13 & #0: Presents that should never be given.

Deathstroke #11, #12 & #0: Shockingly bad.

Demon Knights #11, #12 & #0: Unfortunately, still getting worse.

Detective #11, #12 & #0: At the moment the weakest of the Batman books.

Dial H #3, #4 & #0: This book has a really bad connection

Earth 2 #3, #4 & #0: This is getting intriguing and enjoyable.

Frankenstein #11, #12 & #0: A really interesting and well written book.

GI Combat #11, & #0: Some nice art, not the most interesting of stories.

Green Arrow #11, #12 & #0: Boring.

Green Lantern Corps #11, #12 & #0: A big emerald yawn.

Green Lantern New Guardians #11, #12, #13 & #0: Very quickly turned into a bore fest.

Grifter #11, #12 & #0: My eyes, they burn!

I Vampire #11, #12, #13 & #0: Monstrously good.

Justice League #11, #12, #13 & #0: Superman and Wonder Woman kiss – that’s about as exciting as this book gets.

Justice League Dark #11, #12, #13 & #0: Still interesting.

Justice League International #11 & #12: Predictable and clichéd.

Legion Lost #11, #12, #13 & #0: This book gets worse with every issue.

LSH #11, #12, #13 & #0: In the dark, distant past – or was it the future? – there were some excellent stories written about the LSH. These aren’t some of them.

Nightwing #11, #12, #13 & #0: Still boring.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #11, #12 & #0: Pretty to look at, dull to read.

Voodoo: #11, #12 & #0: A book that started off so promising but then just turned predictable.

Wonder Woman #11, #12, #13 & #0: The weakest of the zero issues but more than made up for by the excellence of the main series.

World’s Finest #3, #4 & #0: This is getting better and enjoyable.

#401 - 402... The Strain #1-2... Based on the novel of the same name, you could say its a modern retelling of Dracula, 1st two issues are setting the scene... I'm interested!

Batman the Dark Night started poorly but has improved dramatically.

They've canceled Frankenstein doh! One of the very, very few books that was well written and innovative from the 'New' DC.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8: #1-#40 - most of these book had sat unread in a box for nearly 4 years and I wish they'd stayed there. And it started out so well - the first 15 issues or so were very good, reminiscent of the excellent TV series but then the quality dropped off fairly rapidly and it got stupider and stupider the closer it got to the end. Apart from a couple of fun issues which were homages to classic super-hero comics and characters the book ended up being a terrible pastiche of the show.

I hope the box full of IDW Angel issues that I have to read next are not as bad.
