hey gang,

just picked up a Fantastic Four 187 , 35 cent variant over the weekend. Noticed something a bit different. along with the 35 cent cover, the indicia on the first page, states that the price is 35 cents. Is this normal for the latter 35 cent variants? The other 35 cent variants i have indicate that the price is 30 cents in the indicia.

check your copies and let me know.

thumbsup2.gif Cool find !!!!!

I had never realy looked at the indicia but after I read your post I checked a few ASM 173, Avengers 164, and X-Men 107 35 cent variants all Oct. issues all have 30 cent in the indicia I also looked at my Fantastic Four 187 35 cent variant and it does say 35 cent in the indicia 893scratchchin-thumb.gif so I pulled out all my 30 cent FF 187 and they all have 35 cent in the indicia I also have a UK one and it also has 35 cent in the indicia. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif Mabye the FF 187 was released the last week of Oct. and got the 35 cent in the indicia and mabye their are some more like this I will look through some more tomorrow and see if I can find any more if I do I will let you know cool.gif.

By the way what kind of distribution marks does your FF 187 35 cent variant have on it?

don't know what a distribution code is. but the numbers below the 187 Oct is 02462? no other marks i can find. says on the indicia it was distributed in the United States and Canada.

maybe it was the very last comic of all the variants to be distributed?

don't know. makepoint.gif

They are not really rare but since they are somewhat key issues that fetch premiums even with the regular 25 cent versions and they belong to a highly collected title like X-men and there are several people out there and on here that hoard them, you may be shelling out some bucks. confused-smiley-013.gif

Here is my latest purchase a vg/f Fury #134. Thanks to all of you who pointed this out to me and didn't bid on it. hail.gif I still have 18 toughies to go but at least this one is out of the way.

BTW, does anybody know why I am having such a tough time with Marvel Tales #66? I have found all the Cat 1-3 books with relative ease but this one has eluded me. It seems that nobody has more than one copy. Any ideas? confused-smiley-013.gif

Congrats Rog! Thanks for the scan or the 134, sweet find...

As for the MT 66, we all have had that 1 book that we had the hardest time finding while someone else seems to have picked it up early on in the quest. My "common toughies" were MSHs, MGCs, Marvel Adventures, and Daredevils. I know other collectors who have had no problem in finding these confused-smiley-013.gif

MT66 - I have had a hard time with these in general. I got a full 5 variant set from rust-belt off ebay 2 years ago, and I've never come across an MT66 since, but maybe b/c I wasn't really looking either? I've spotted some 67 & 70s but not one other of 66,68 or 69. Could be because they are reprints of common ASM issues so collectors would have had less reason to pick them up?

Yes, it is loose but I just reattached it. I didn't want to chance losing out on it since it is a tough one to get. I am not a big condition guy as long as the comic is complete. Now if only some Westerns or horror reprints would come up with loose centerfolds... I would buy those all day at $50.00. Once I have a complete set I will upgrade if the price is right.

Thanks FD, but I just got one in a trade with Cosmic-Spider-Man. Do you have Adventures on the Planet of the Apes 6 and 7 or any horror reprints other than WWT #17? Let me know and you will have a sale. laugh.gif
