Watched The Wolverine last night.....

After IM3, I didn't think Marvel could make a worse film. I was wrong. My God, I was glad I didn't pay full price at the theater. Memo to Marvel: Enuff with the Wolverine saturation and Kitty was the main character in DOFP.

Watched Gravity and I'm surprised I didn't fall asleep. zzz

Last night was Hunger Games part 2, pretty much the same feeling as part 1. Although, towards the end, I was craving for it to finish. That was different from the first movie.

Pretty sure Marvel is very happy with The Wolverine. Budget of 120M and raked in 415M.

Wow. Was it any good? I'm just Hugh Jackman as Wolverine weary. He's going to be in the upcoming X-Men movie, stealing camera time again. In how many films has he played the role? It'll be a dozen movies before long. That's too much.

Isn't it time to bring in a new, younger actor?

It will be soon enough.

The Wolverine was worth a watch, though. Not sure it is a common rewatch movie. But it earned that $415 MM worldwide box office result.

It focuses more on the pain of the character that has made him what he is in modern times, and what X-Men Origins: Wolverine could have been if handled right.

Agreed they really showed the pain part of how being Wolverine can be a curse. I really thought Wolverine was good. I saw it three times, and I am one who just likes to watch something once then move on.

Actually I was surprised how good it was, but shocked that it didn`t do better at the domestic box office. It did great worldwide box office like Pacific Rim did, but domestic it had so so results?

I watched the Lone Ranger a few days ago.

I was surprised because I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would.

Another good one. It had a great Tonto origin that was very thought provoking.

It also had one of the best train scenes ever in a movie.

This goes to show people don`t believe what the pc media crowd deems good anymore, and for now on go and watch these movies ourselves to make our own judgments.

The main two reasons why Lone Ranger movie bombed at the box office.

1.It was a western.

Westerns are now stereotyped as old and boring,as something our grand pa`s watched. (shrug)

2.The biggest factor was some people just couldn`t get over the fact how Johnny Depp played an Indian. This caused much negativity, and the movie got judged before it even got made. :o

Those were the two biggest reasons why Lone Ranger bombed at the box office.

The good news is the Lone Ranger toys and Blu-ray have become big sellers. (thumbs u

I guess I would watch it again if someone gave me the DVD as a gift, or it was priced at a level I would make the jump.

The scenes with Logan during WW II and then living off in the woods away from civilization were quite good. It was a nice buildup to the main story, showing how much he suffered throughout time.

Agreed, you could feel Wolverine`s pain when they showed the Nagasaki bombing, then you felt it again when he had to return to Nagasaki in present day times.

Also the lady who played Mariko was beautiful, which was a plus.

Best picture nominees:

American Hustle- very entertaining. good job by pretty much all of the actors. won't win best picture, Christian Bale will likely be runner up for best actor

Captain Phillips- okay movie, certainly won't win best picture...unless Tom Hanks is part of the Academy... hm

Dallas Buyers Club- excellent movie, may win best picture. Matthew McConaughey will win best actor

Gravity- snoozefest. Don't know why this movie was nominated. I liked George Clooney's small part, but that was it.

Her- very enjoyable. lots of things re. technology that may be in store for us. Should win Best Original Screenplay

Nebraska- have yet to see it

Philomena- have yet to see it

12 Years a Slave- very good movie. Will be a contender for best picture. Michael Fassbender may win best supporting actor, while Chiwetel Ejiofor will battle for best actor

The Wolf of Wall Street- I've watched 100 minutes of the 180 minute film so far. It's been pretty good so far. Can't comment on too much just yet other than this likely would have been an X-rated film 25 years ago.

Saw 4 films over the weekend

American Hustle was the best

Her got kind of annoying

Secret Life of Walter Mitty had a good soundtrack

Wolf of Wall Street - things they were doing here were done before and done better in other films. Worth it for Margot Robbie (I knew I saw her somewhere before - I watched Pan Am when it was on). The "hedonism" scenes were not as over-the-top as I expected. You can barely see Jonah Hill's wang.

Still I get the feeling I haven't seen this year's Best Picture.

Watched a few movies the last couple weeks.

Wofl of Wall Street- Absolutely awesome. Highly entertaining, fun, funny as all heck and Margot Robbie :cloud9: It didn't feel it was long at all.

Prisoners- Awesome flick. Really had a lot of emotions watching this... tied up everything nicely.

American Hustle- meh. Wasn't bad. Good cast. Entertaining at times but whatever, more sizzle than steak for sure.
