Y: The Last Man [SPOILERS]

Just read the full series after hearing many good things from fellow boardies. I think I finished in about 3-4 days its one of those books you dont want to put down.

For those of you who have finished, id be interested to know if you were satisfied with how it ended?

Also just came across this video which is pretty neat, hopefully they go ahead and make a full on movie soon!

There are always debates about the ending. I personally thought it was awesome. For those that don't like it I always ask them to give me a better ending. (shrug)

Dexter on the other hand makes me wish I never watched the series and there is a much better ending out there.

The last three issues are pretty damn powerful. Certainly something that will stick with me.

Edit: @Harvey ... don't read this thread if you don't know the ending.

I enjoyed the ending but it was more of a bitter sweet ending. Some people I know were rather pissed about

355s death

and say that it was unwarranted, what do you guys think?

That's what brought it all together. It explained most of the motivations of the main characters and themes of the story.

I don't subscribe to the regular "key issues" mentality of comic collecting but issue 58 makesY for me.

I liked the ending . I agree it's tough to put down. 60 issues was too short for this Masterpiece. I was sad after I finished reading the last issue.

I like to think about the possibility that Brian, Pia & Jose could get together again and do another arc.

(ala Sandman: Overture)

Either after the ending of #60 or expanding upon ideas / scenes within #60.

Re: best endings - I agree with Jeff, Six Feet Under still 'gets' me every time.

Great book, no denying that. Saga will wind up being better simply because Brian has ownership of it. #ThanksDC

Hmm. Just like DC messed up The Dark Knight Returns, TDK Rises & Man of Steel? Karen & Vertigo let BKV & Pia create a masterpiece, and under their editing and guidance, created what I think a lot of people would consider to be one of the best of the Modern age. Not sure why DC gets such a bad rap when people forget that perhaps the best comic movies ever were and are DC properties. They've had their slip ups recently with Green Lantern and Watchmen, but they have a vested interest to not produce garbage.

Anyway, Saga's great, but the idea of even throwing it anywhere near Saga to me is a little premature.

Was talking about how Brian does not own Y, but owns Saga, so the incentive to go "above and beyond" is certainly there for Brian if he chooses to do so.
I would like to respond, but I need more clarification.

I was always under the assumption that Vertigo did share creator rights / allowed 'more' freedom (not as much as Image) and that it was Brian & Pia that had sold the entertainment rights.

i was under the impression that that was not the case, that DC owns it, tough mess to the creators.

if the creators do own it, i would love to see American Vampire taken to Image, so i can be done with DC alltogether.

The idea that Brian and Pia didn't do their best possible work on Y The Last Man just because they didn't own the rights is utterly ridiculous.

I guess The Pro and Back to Brooklyn are better than Preacher because Garth Ennis owns the rights to the former. Chin Music is going to be Steve Niles' best work ever. Ten Grand and Protectors Inc are going to be better than Midnight Nation. Jeff Lemire's Sweet Tooth and Trillium obviously aren't as good as his Top Shelf work. Scott Snyder is most definitely not doing his best work right now. He's waiting until he puts out an Image book.

doh!
