The official toy line has an Iron Man figure-guessing he'll be in the movie.
The official description describes the Iron Man and Nova figures as "comic inspired" and the GOG figures as "movie accurate". They could just be trying to keep it on the low down but it's possible that they are just based on the comic.

They said maybe 5% of the movie takes place on earth- I know there's a few minutes in the beginning, but maybe also the very end too. I'm guessing they travel to earth at the end

Peter Quill was born on Earth and spent the early parts of his life (with teenage years as an orphan) until he enrolled in a NASA program and was offered the job of Star Lord by an alien while on a space mission. (simplified)

Not sure how much they will stick to that, but another idea might be that Earth is in beginning for his "origin story"?

Looks like his success with 'I am Groot' may have paid off.

Vin Diesel in talks for a larger Marvel Studios role

-----------------------------------

Previously, Vin Diesel seemed to provide a hint what that bigger part could be as he mentioned the "merging of brands" for Marvel Studios' Phase 3 plans.

Nothing more was said, but James Gunn did recently mention Guardians of the Galaxy directly connects to The Avengers 3.

Fans have been speculating that maybe Vin Diesel is also playing Thanos (though Josh Brolin is currently rumored for the role) or even Black Bolt or Adam Warlock.

Black Bolt?

Minor SPOILERS! New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Cameos And References Revealed

Otherwise, here’s what we’ve learned: Stan Lee will have his customary cameo, this time as the ‘Xandarian Ladies’ Man;’ browncoat favorite Nathan Fillion will be dolled up as ‘Monstrous Inmate;’ musician Rob Zombie lends his voice as the ‘Ravager Navigator Voice;’ and writer/director James Gunn himself will appear in the film as one of the ‘Maskless Sakaaran.’ Howard the Duck is somewhere to be found in the film. This inference comes from a line in the end titles that credits co-creators Steve Gerber and Val Mayerik. Also in the film, though not a cameo, is actor Fred the dog who assumes the role of Cosmo.

Just saw a preview of this and it looks craptacular-looks like they're going for the cheap laffs rather than distinctive plot or characterizations

The same character types you see in any lo-grade movies-the smart aleck, the tough guy, the chick with attitude-they're all here.

Sell your guardians books now boys while they're at their peak cause theyre gonna green lantern after this baby comes out.....
