dem1138
I picked up a raw BA 12 at NYCC and it just came back CGC 9.8. Can't decide if I should sell now or wait until next year. Congrats to Illustrious on his recent sales!
Rip
Its a great book, but yes there are a lot more 9.6-9.8s coming now. I'm even going to toss a high grade copy at CGC. I think its going to settle at around $625-$750. The latest copy just went for below $800. Well deserved book, and a long time coming, but let not go crazy here. I think the book has little room to grow now and I'd be scared to pay much above $500 for long term investment. And for those keeping track its 111 9.8's now and 9 Yellows. kimik
Not sure if this is legit based on the winning bidder's history with the seller (newbie with 100% bidding on 1 item), but if it is then the entry point for BA #12 has been raised: Batman Adventures #12 CGC 6.

Straight Edge
This book was my "Holy Grail" for a long time, and I finally purchased a raw copy at a local show last weekend. I am pleased with it. I don't know anything about grading, so I was looking for some feedback in this thread: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7279129#Post7279129 In any event, I followed the old adage from these boards regarding "buy the book, not the grade," so I'm happy either way. I was just looking for some insight regarding what to expect before I make my first submission to CGC.

Transplant
CGC 9.8 Batman Adventures #12 sold for $1,000 on October 24, 2013. The CGC census at the time showed 98 in CGC 9.8 universal and 6 in CGC 9.8 signature. The debate began about whether there were "lots more" CGC 9.8s out there, or not, began on this messageboard. As of January 14, 2014, the CGC census now shows 42 additional CGC 9.8 universal and 3 additional CGC 9.8 signature. The census is up 43% and 50%, respectively, in 12 weeks, after being steady/stable for 14 years. I believe we can now definitively say, YES, there were significantly more CGC 9.8 "in raw form" for Batman Adventures #12... and more CGC 9.8 are likely in the coming weeks/months. AGGIEZ
I'd like to see a print run comparison of ASM #300 and BA #12. To me, these two are probably the most comparable. Maybe NM #98 as well. -- ASM #300 is an $800 book in CGC 9.8 and it's 5 years older. CGC 9.8s = 542 -- NM #98 is a $400 book in CGC 9.8 and it's 2.5 years older. CGC 9.8s = 1,318 -- BA #12 is a $750-800 book in CGC 9.8. CGC 9.8s = 149. Yes, there will be ALOT more coming soon Where will BA #12 land when the dust settles and the fanboys get their BA #12 CGC 9.8s back from "Alcaslab" and dump them? I am thinking closer to NM#98 levels than ASM#300 levels...

In the case of ASM 300, there's over 8000 graded to get those 542 9.8's. If there were 8000 BA12's graded, I'm going to assume there would be far more than that 542. I am thinking closer to NM#98 levels than ASM#300 levels... Unless Harley gets her own movie, or is the featured villain in a D.C. movie, this book will fall below NM #98. A version of Deadpool has already been featured in the Wolverine movie. A Deadpool movie being made is more of a certainty than a Harley movie being made, especially since Marvel is more willing to make movies concerning their "B" and "C" level characters (we're going to be getting GOTG and Rocket Racoon as a blockbuster movie for god's sake). D.C. can't even get movies of their "A" list characters like Wonder Woman, or Aquaman made for god's sake. By the time the deluge of B.A. #12's return from their "vacations" in Florida, I see it finally settling in the $250-$300 range. Not a bad price, but since the census numbers in 9.8 are likely to quintuple the numbers that were present during the $1,000 sale, the price will lower as there will be more supply to meet demand. And as the book lowers as the extra copies come up for sale, the demand will lower because people will realize just how many copies are really out there, and that it was never "rare".
