I agree with the good Dr, some of these books just don't show up in your desired grade very often and you better jump on the chance when you can! -bc I tried to jump, but I ended up tripping and falling flat on face

Popular Post Frisco Larson
Bought this one about a half hour ago. I've been gravitating toward somewhat higher graded copies than this one is, but when the money is right .... frozentundraguy
I have noticed, over the last few years, that issue #34 of Tales to Astonish rarely comes up for sale in high grade. Does anyone have a theory as to why that is? I ran a quick comparison on issues 20, 23, 34, and 27 just as a small baseline. There are 821 slabbed copies of issue 27, and if you count qualified, signature series, and restored there are a whopping 1096 copies that have been graded by GCG. There are 81 slabbed copies of issue 34, with 4 copies (none graded) for sale on Ebay and 1 raw copy for sale on Comic Connect. There are 69 slabbed copies of issue 23, with 13 copies (4 graded) for sale on Ebay and 3 raw copies for sale on Comic Connect. There are 78 slabbed copies of issue 20, with 19 copies (4 graded) for sale on Ebay and 1 raw copy for sale on Comic Connect. Is issue #34 that much of a keeper that no one wishes to part with a high grade copy?

Here ya go Every PHM seems to be hard to find when you are actively looking to buy one - I've been ready to buy a TTA11 for several years but haven't located one. By the way, this issue is also pretty popular - think it was voted one of the favorites of the run. There's almost 50 Competitive Registry Sets for TTA 1-34, so there is some "heat" for this title. Many of the higher grade issues are locked in these sets until the steward decides to part with them. That's one of the things I like about this genre - the Hunt. You can't just go to feeBay and buy them all like you can with the SA superhero books. I'll keep my eyes open for any in the upcoming auctions (you may want to check out the upcoming ComicConnect auction - pretty nice selection of PHM books if I remember correctly) Good luck & Happy Hunting! -bc jas1vans, frozentundraguy, Mucheee1 and 2 others 4

I'm fortunate to have a pretty nice copy myself. I found it on Ebay back in 2009, not long after I found out just how cool the TTA series is. I sent mine in for grading about 4 or 5 years ago. I only wish I had pursued more issues of the series back then.
