Heritage February

440 posts in this topic

Last year, I remember reading here that the May cycle wasn't good bc many people were saving their money for San Diego. And some people thought August wasn't that great bc some were still on vacation or recovering (financially) from San Diego. So now Nov and Feb aren't good either?

Nov 2011 - 652

Feb 2012 - 564

No matter how you slice it, this is the smallest Heritage OA offering by lots in 3 years. Also, November has had the highest number of lots offered in each of the past 4 years, so I think we can put any old wives' tales about negative seasonality to rest there. There may be some slight negative seasonality with Feb, though (hard to say for sure given the small sample size). 2c

Gene - sorry, I was referring to how "good" the auctions are for consignors, which is what jjonah was referring to in his post. I totally agree that these are small auctions compared to what we have become used to.

I'd think the 2012 numbers were inflated by the Shamus Collection though. Kind of like Heritage offering the Schmell stuff and Twin Cities, or Comiclink with the Rockies.

Anyone else floored with this bidding with almost three weeks left?

Impressive.

Funny, just as you posted this I was looking at this auction. Pretty crazy early bidding for sure.

The market for prime-era Byrne FF covers is not really established at least in terms of public sales so this one will be interesting to watch.

I believe the FF Annual cover featuring a nice shot of the whole team went for what now seems like a bargain in a recent Heritage auction compared to what it is looking like this one will go for.
