ASM 300 Appreciation/ Club Thread 12 12

I'll play along. Here's one I received from Westfield back in my college days, sent it in for the slab a couple years ago. It survived school and several moves in the AF quite well!

Is the "speckling" of the black areas of the cover a fairly common issue with this book? I've seen a lot of copies in various grades that have speckling on the mask area and the legs.

I have two copies.

 

The first is from a collection I picked up back in the eearly 90's. Nice copy with a couple ticks on the back that keep it out of high grade.

 

 

Copy 2 is my OO copy that is in nice shape but had the "jagged edge" that plagues many copies of this issue. My understanding is that it is considered a printing defect.

ofcourse i read and eventually sold the better centered one

and kept the off center one - dumb 13 year old i was
