PGM: Batman 232

I just picked up this book on Saturday. I'm probably going to send it in to CGC. I would love to hear the opinions of the board members concerning the grade.

WOW, that's a sharp book! I'd go at least a 9.2, maybe a 9.4. I do see a few small spine ticks.

9.2 IMHO! If the corners were a little sharper I'd have given it a higher grade.

But a really great looking copy!

9.0 too many spine tics and the back cover is discolored

Looks similar to my 9.0 as my copy has light spine stress and discoloration on the BC. Nice book!

I received the book back from CGC. The grade is not as high as I thought it would be. I may have missed something in the interior.

Sorry it didn't get any higher Mike. Did you have it pressed or dry cleaned? Maybe that could have made the difference?

No pressing or dry cleaning. I'm not a fan of buying pressed books, so I wouldn't have that done to books I submit for grading. Wouldn't dry cleaning a book put it in the "restored" category?

Hi Mike,

 

According to the latest acceptable procedures "dry cleaning and pressing" are not considered restoration. My personal opinion is that I don't think of pressing and dry cleaning as restoration, not even preservation. More like maintenance?

 

I think your book still presents nicer than most of the HA examples. Did you get the graders notes by chance? From some of the notes I've seen they seem very "poor or scarce" when it comes to details or descriptions.
