Emerald City Comic Con, March 27-29, 2015, Seattle, WA

I should be all checked in around 3 in the afternoon.

This is my favorite show/city of the year.

I've got Lowell's marked on my map.

:cloud9:Lowells.

I have sat at every one of those tables in the picture.

Ditto :cloud9: Last year hunkered down for breakfast each morning before the show at those very tables. Recommended.

Wish I was able to go this year...

It was a very nice, sunny day here. :whee:

Had lunch with my sister and got to see my niece for a bit. Boardies I've seen so far:

Nikelspot

greggy

Stuptown

Foolkiller

SOT

Went to an indoor range and threw a few hundred rounds down range, some into a couple of of counterfeit copies of CFD. Walked around the show floor, heard a lot of talk about the future of ECCC with it having been purchased by Reed, walked around Seattle, went back to my room for a few and am now finally heading out for a bit.

See you all tomorrow.

Just got back from the con. So, uh, traffic is a MAJOR problem, especially when they schedule the con for spring break. It took me 90 min. to go 4 miles and then another hour+ to find parking (and I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally had to go to the bathroom).

It had been 2 years since I've gone to ECCC and a lot has changed; A) Fridays now are what Saturdays used to be B) less comic booths (bad, very bad), more artists (good) C) No one had any of my books I am looking for.

I did get Stan to sign my arm and got a tattoo over it, which was cool, but I've met him 4 times now and he still doesn't remember me, what gives? And I met Neal Adams and bought a few prints; a couple Game Of Thrones ones and a Star Wars one.

Lastly, I met up with joeypost which is always a pleasure (thumbs u

Then on the way back, a truck lost the plastic inner wheel well, bounced off another car and I ran it over, this after maybe 2 miles of being on I-5 South. It made my check engine light go on and my transmission light blink on my '08 Civic. So we'll see what that damage will cost me tomorrow.

So, in all, it was an okay time, but I don't think I'll be going back to ECCC until they make some necessary changes, the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.

This morning started off with some fog but did improve as the day moved on. This was the craziest Friday I've ever seen at this show and I've been going to this show for the last seven or eight years now. It was swamped, packed, full, however you want to describe it - a massive amount of people for a Friday show.

I had some serious problems readily moving down aisles due to the amount of people. Artist Alley was pretty crazy and the celeb room was even crazier. Show is completely sold out.

Saw several boardies today including highradart, Gold Dust, joeypost, Meance, and a few others.

Vehicle traffic was not fun today at all - a lot of congestion throughout the city and it took me double the normal amount of time to get back to my room after I left the show early, and even longer to get to a relative's house to take care of something.

The mood overall was positive, I encountered very few people in any sort of bad mood. It looked like people were buying and everyone seemed pretty busy. ECCC's merchandise booth was i-n-s-a-n-e. Lines out the door for it and some items were sold out.

For anyone purchasing the color Star Wars: Princess Leia book, pay extra attention to the back cover - most of the copies I saw had some serious print tracks and ink spots on the back. Poor printing seems to be a theme at this show with a lot of books getting trashed or otherwise having printing/production imperfections.

Well, I'm beat and hitting the sack. Not sure if there's going to be a dinner get together tomorrow but a few of us were talking about it.

Toast, out....

I will agree with Toast's comments above as I have been exhibiting there since 2005, so I don't get to take the show in as a fan, but I am on the opposite end. Its an amazingly fun show to set-up at and without a doubt this has been the smoothest show so far, no complaints from people, lots of people buying, etc. This has been the craziest Friday for this show that I have ever seen since they switched to 3 days. Today should be even more insane, but in a good way.

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering ECCC grows next year to 4 days in size.

ECCC deserves to expand to 4 days. Best show in the Pacific Northwest by far.

Friday report:

Fog on highway, overhead warning light on I-5 south said to avoid exits near Convention Ctr so I exited smoothly 1 exit sooner near Seattle Ctr Space Needle. Parked for free about 10 blocks away near Denny Ave. then hiked in. Buses and cars snarled in traffic headed to Convention Ctr.

Not too bad 22 minute wait for on-call ticket/badge booth.

Lined up 20 minutes at Dark Horse booth but they were already sold out of Lady Killer #1 ECCC variant cover to those dealer/speculators but they have allotment to sell for each day of comic-con.

Flatliner seemed to have a glassylook in his eyes checking out NTT 2 pricing trends and realizing he can't afford to buy much due to exchange rate else he was downwind of the smiling greggy.

Carbo should my hand as he thought I was a hi-roller but I figure he got me confused with Foolkiller who was also there as all us Asians with glasses look the same.

Saw Cgc booth and non-Cgc booth behind Graham Crackers near Harley. (thumbs u

Did not see Steve B or Joeypost as they must have left to have lunch together. Crowd thinned out btwn 2 to 3 pm as fans went for lunch at Cheesecake Factory of Subway downstairs else in line up for Stan Lee?

Female artist was signing copies of new Jem Holograms #1 comic at IDW booth right across from front door of main comicon side of hall.

Beautiful sunny day. Had buffet dinner at Tulalip Casino with 10% senior's discount: fresh pasta, roast beef, salmon, desserts, Chinese food, pizza, juices, 3 soups, ham, Prime Rib, coffee, cake, pie, cookies for $20.

Sounds like I will be getting leftovers come Sunday, hopefully there is still some meat left on the bone. Should have gotten the 3 day pass. Lesson learned for next year.

Anybody have a chance to see Kevin Eastman today? Whats the line like to see him?

I hope you guys leave me a decent piece of OA to get from Kevin. :D
