Poison Ivy is being recast.

GOTHAM Season 3 Is Recasting 'Poison Ivy'

TV Line has learned that the recent Gotham casting call was for Poison Ivy, who will be receiving a major overhaul when the show returns this fall. Claire Foley, the young actress who played the part of Ivy Pepper in nine episodes scattered throughout the past two seasons, will not return for the upcoming third season and the now-series regular role is currently in the midst of being recast with an actress in her late teens, which will accelerate Ivy's path into embracing her true eco-terrorist roots.

Whether or not the new actress will assume the role of Ivy Pepper or whether she'll play Pamela Isley, the true alter-ego of the popular Batman villain, is yet-to-be seen, but the former seems more likely at the moment.

Heading into season 3, Gotham isn’t the only thing that’s getting older.

Maggie Geha (Ted 2) joins the cast as a series regular in the role of Poison Ivy. Although the character has previously existed in the world of Gotham, Geha will play an older Ivy. According to her character description, “Following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, Ivy Pepper finds herself reborn, and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne.”

Get ready to meet the new Ivy — as well as Jamie Chung as Valerie Vale — when Gotham returns on Monday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.

I hope Ivy Pepper goes to get her PHD and becomes Dr Pepper. But it does seem odd that they'd age her so quick. She seems younger than Selina and Bruce. Are they going to mutate AND age her? But I guess they could add some sex appeal since they've neutered Galavan's sister, Barbara is not nearly as attractive as they want us to think, Baccarin seems to be off the show, and Will's Smith wife is literally a b---r shrinker.

Gotham enters its third year this Fall, and it won't be holding back when it comes to introducing many of Batman's greatest foes before Bruce Wayne dons the cape and cowl for the first time. It was during season two that we learned Hugo Strange was carrying out orders for the Court of the Owls, and it definitely appears as if they'll be taking centre stage as the show's new big bad from this point.

That makes sense considering the fact that they may very well have a connection to the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne, and seeing exactly how closely Gotham ends up sticking to the source material in terms of their supernatural abilities promises to be pretty interesting.

New GOTHAM Synopsis Explains Poison Ivy's Age Shift And Teases Many More Characters

When it was announced that Poison Ivy's actress on Gotham was being recast with Maggie Geha in the role, fans wondered how the age gap would be explained without a time skip. It seems one of the monsters from Indian Hill is to blame, as a new synopsis for season 3 has hinted at a "reborn" Ivy with full control of her abilities.

As the city sinks deeper into chaos, GOTHAM will continue to follow the evolving stories of the city’s most malevolent villains: THE PENGUIN (Robin Lord Taylor); EDWARD NYGMA/the future RIDDLER (Cory Michael Smith); SELINA KYLE/the future CATWOMAN (Camren Bicondova); BARBARA KEAN (Erin Richards), TABITHA GALAVAN/TIGRESS (Jessica Lucas) and BUTCH GILZEAN (Drew Powell). The series also will catch up with the future POISON IVY (Maggie Geha), who, after an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill, finds herself reborn as a young woman who’s harnessed the full power of her charms; and will dive into the origin stories of JERVIS TETCH/MAD HATTER (Benedict Samuel), a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness; and the TWEED BROTHERS.

First image of the new Poison Ivy. And she may even meet someone's high bar for a female super villain.

Gotham: First Look at Maggie Geha as a More Grown Up Poison Ivy

The show announced back in June that relative newcomer Maggie Geha would be replacing Clare Foley as Ivy Pepper, and now, we have your first look at Geha's Ivy, whose sudden growth spurt will apparently be triggered by a run-in with an escaped monster from Indian Hill.

How the plant-loving looker will cause trouble for Bruce—and more likely, Selina (Camren Bicondova)—is still a secret, but we wouldn't be shocked if young master Wayne suddenly developed a horticultural hobby.

Harley Quinn May Have Already Appeared On Gotham

Executive Producers John Stephens and Ken Woodruff, along with Catwoman actress Camren Bicondova and Poison Ivy actress Maggie Geha, recently spoke with IGN about the popular character, and that while we will see the character in season three, fans very well might have already met her.

"You may have already seen Harley as a person that you thought you had met and known for a long time. So we always reserve the right to sort of do that as well," said Woodruff. To which Bicondova, who was standing beside Woodruff, reacted with a genuinely surprised, "Ummm, I didn’t know that!"

Stephens added that Harley is a bit more complicated than Ivy or Croc, and that she does have connections to the Joker mythology they've setup in the show.

"The Harley Quinn of it all is a bit more of a sticky wicket but it’s one we’ve already thought about for the character," Stephens said. "We don’t want to give too much away but it will definitely be someone connected to the Joker cult world that we have set up. But it’s down the road, later in Season Three right now."

It helps that Harley's best friend Poison Ivy is already on the show, and Geha couldn't be more excited about getting to share the screen with her.

"I would love, love, love, love to see Harley Quinn. In the comics she and Ivy and Harley Quinn are very close. In fact, I’m pretty sure in the comics they just formally announced that they’re girlfriends. Just as an actor I would love it for them to bring Harley Quinn onto the show. I would love that. I hope they do one day. That would be great. It would be so much fun for me."

Cameron Monaghan's Jerome Confirmed To Return On Gotham

“It is 100% our intention to bring Jerome back,” executive producer John Stephens told Zap2it. Just don't expect Jerome to pop up anytime soon. Stephens says the show will build up to his resurrection over a period of time, setting the stage in Season 3 and saving the big reveal for Season 4.

“You’ll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he’s going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist,” he explained. “Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we’ll bring that back in a much bigger way and you’ll see these different versions of the Joker myth.”

If a Season 4 does happen and Jerome is brought back to life, Stephens teased that he wouldn't be the same maniac. “He plays into the idea of transformation. When he comes back, you want to see that new version. That next step forward.”

Vicki Vale's aunt is Asian?

New GOTHAM Season 3 Still Provides Another Look At SIN CITY 2's Jamie Chung As Valerie Vale

gotham-first-look-jamie-chung.jpg

There was some unofficial set pics and a "Production has Begun" promo featuring the character, but now thanks to TV Line we have our first still of "crackerjack reporter", Valerie Vale (Jamie Chung), as she'll appear on season 3 of Gotham.

We know that Miss Vale will be looking into the Indian Hill experiments and shaking down Gordon for answers (there's also some "dating" talk), but aside from that the specifics of her role remain to be seen.
