Popular Post Grottu
Just found these three buried in the inventory at a used book shop. Owner didn’t specialize in comics and had no idea how long they’d even been there. They’re in rough shape, but I made a lowball offer and, happily, they took it. Always wanted #18, with its “anti-racism” story that became a controversy. OtherEric, Larryw7, Mmehdy and 7 others

Popular Post Raze
I was excited that I won these on ebay last week and didn't think Id have a chance. I didn't have very many of the early crime books but I doubled it last week! I know what you're asking "but are they low grade?"....Of course theyre low grade! The seller was pretty awesome in the fact that I paid for $0 shipping and it was shipped securely and priority with sig confirmation. They Claim to have 100+ years of grading experience, but I didn't agree with the assigned grades (but bid what I thought was fair) or on some of their other listings. One book they graded at a GD+ but the book had a sizeable chunk out of the front cover and another book (a Moon Girl 5 ) is graded at a GD- but the book is incomplete missing a wrap that affects story. In the description of the books I bid on they were very detailed, that Ill give them. I would recommend buying from the seller but be aware of the grading. I was looking at those auctions too and noticed the same thing. Their grades were off quite a bit according to the pictures. They probably never opened them or did a page count. I passed and probably would not buy from them in the future. Raze

Their descriptions are pretty spot on with good detail but yes the grades were off. They claim to have 100 years experience in grading but it doesn't show. I knew what I was getting into and bid accordingly, plus I had a little extra to spend and those were cool. If I buy from them again I would subtract one point off their grade. Personally, I think “low grade” just adds to the noir factor with these old crime books and feels oddly appropriate.🕵🏻♂️ Raze and KirbyJack 1
Popular Post Raze
Well I went with the MAD 5 here it is! Its beat up bad (its maybe a 8.5 VF (VF Very F'ed ) but you guys were right its hard to find and I had a little extra so I knocked it off the list! Plus I got the Tales of the Incredible book...It has the stories with art and the book has to be read sideways. KirbyJack
Great additions, Raze! I see that no censorship was required for this meat cleaver in the head. Poor Vault of Horror 32 must have felt like it was getting picked on. Raze
Popular Post Raze
An upgrade! Plus it has a story from the TFTC show on HBO, which stood out that I remember. Mmehdy, Jayman, Robot Man and 7 others

One thing that strikes me over and over now that I never realized when I was younger is just how much of Bernie Wrightson's style came from Ingels. Gratz on a great upgrade! And, of course, no need to ask what you're doing with the undercopy... Raze, Albert Thurgood and Larryw7 2

Popular Post fifties
These just in. TFTC and Weird Sci are upgrades, so I'll be selling the undercopies. The VOH copy is disappointing in that the cover is so fragile, so guess I'll be looking for a better copy. fifties
Weird Science is number 5, from 1951. The undercopy was printed in Canada, and the ink registration on the interior pages is rather dull. Popular Post Grottu
Sorry, but I really need to brag about this find. Went online looking for old issues of Mad and ended up searching the website of a guy dealing in rare books and magazines. He had some decent Mad's from the '50s, but was asking way too much for them. Was about to surf outta there, when I noticed he also had Panic #5 listed -- for way too little. Kept scrolling and saw that he had #4, #2 and #1, all for the same ridiculously low price. It was weird, because he clearly understood the value of Mad, but seemed to have no idea what he had with these Panic issues (who am I to correct him?). I bought all four for the equivalent of about half the cost of a CGC premium membership! They just arrived today...
