I have found this book very difficult to come by. Just finally got a copy within the last few months.

Nice - I still kick myself for letting myself be outbid in the early days of ebay on a copy of this - I think it went for about $75 for one with a couple of folding creases. I had no idea how rare it actually was then.

I'll try my luch here. Can anyone tell me what is the difference between the "Is This Tomorrow" book with the price on it, the one without the price and just a blank circle and the one with neither of these on the cover?

I'm looking to get a copy and not sure which is the most desirable, the rarest, etc? I know these are all variant covers, but are any of these a reprint?

I'd like to get a first print in the 7.0 range but not sure which of these covers I should be actively seeking out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Although CGC has not addressed them, there are actually six "price" variants, five if we exclude the rare black and white advance version, of which just a few are known to be in collections. Rarity for the other five seems to be more or less the same, since they have been widely distributed back then.

The book is not so rare, it’s mostly sought after, and I think going for a CGC graded mid-to-high grade copy like you wish to do is not the wisest move, i.e. you will end up paying a lot of money for a book which is not so rare. I would advise to be on the lookout for a midgrade non-CGC copy.

Personally I don’t like it so much. There are far better documents, artistically speaking, of that historical timespan, although being a catholic publications "Is this tomorrow" is probably relevant since it raises (in a pretty raw way) also the teologic implications behind communist "doctrine" (although from the peculiar sensibility of american culture), and not merely the political worries about a totalitarian regime.

Hepcat, I thought I was big into the esoteric but you are the King !

Not me! It's Gorgo who's the king!

Those Gorgos are great, not appreciated much by collectors but I love them.

So do I! And in general I like to acquire the harder to find titles, especially when they're relatively overlooked as well.

Thank you for the advice on the rarity of the various covers. I would like to get a "7.0ish" copy but not necessarily cgc'd. I have my eye on a couple fairly inexpensive ones at the moment.

Here is the only Aniti-Communism Comic that I know of in my collection.

My understanding is that this book is the first published comic with Charles Schultz artwork in it. If I'm wrong, forgive me for my error.

I also noticed that mine is slightly different than the other scans I saw. I can't remember if mine is an early printing or later printing. I just snagged it as soon as I saw it. This was bought from Ward Batty who worked for the CSN magazine. He had a short-lived store in the metro Atlanta area.

Nice... See now that's another version of the cover I haven't seen before... I guess there are quite a few variations.

I have tried to reply in full to your question, as far as my knowledge goes. :)

dgarthwaite copy has the large 10 cent red price, so it should be one of the two 1947 newsstand versions, as the Catechetical Guild had started to sell his publications in newsttands as well as through the usual school channels. The other is the same, but the large 10 cent price is black. They should be respectively the fourth and fifth versions (excluding the advance one).

Windy City copy?

Surely not. I don't know anything about the history of the comic other than who I bought it from.

I was hoping it was a pay copy with that writing on the cover.

The A. Wallace name on the left side of the front cover is one of the Windy City markings so it is almost certain that's where the book came from.
