WONDER WOMAN Release Date Moved; Two DC Films Get Release Dates

Warner Bros. has moved up the release date of Wonder Woman.

The film has been moved from its June 23, 2017 release and will now open weeks earlier, on June 2, 2017. The shift in release dates means Wonder Woman will no longer be battling Transformers 5 at the box office. Instead, it now shares a release date with Bad Boys 3.

Warner Bros. also slotted two untitled DC Comics movies for Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019.

I'm glad they're moving up WW by 2 weeks, for no other reason than we get to watch it sooner. WW is the movie I'm most looking forward to in 2017.

My current 2017 anticipatory list, which nobody asked for.

1. WW

2. Star Wars 8

3. GOTG 2

4. Lego batman

5. John Wick 2

6. Fast and Furious 8

7. Kingsman 2

I'd be excited for Gambit but I don't realistically think they'll release it in 2017. And I always enjoy Resident Evils, but have no desire to watch in theater.

and you can sell me on Spidey or Wolvie as more info comes out, or if Snyder doesn't direct JL1 (though I suspect I'll watch it no matter what). You might also be able to sell me on Dark Tower if the reviews are good.

Marvel Studios President Says INHUMANS Delayed

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige did some press at the Captain America: Civil War junket this weekend, and he finally addressed one particular elephant in the room: that pesky Inhumans release date. While acknowledging that the movie is very likely to shift away from its current July 12, 2019 date (itself the second date for the film, initially announced for November 2, 2018), he did double down that it's at least still on the docket.

"Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big, joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big, fun continuation of that story for us," Feige told Collider. "Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it's on right now. How far down it shuffles, I'm not sure yet."

Warner Bros DC Comics Movies Sizzle Reel Description

During the Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon 2016 in Las Vegas, NV, Ben Affleck, who was just announced as having a Batman solo movie in the works, took the stage with Amy Adams, Lois Lane in their current films, to introduce a new sizzle reel. The reel featured footage from Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and sample shots of even more.

"Henry Cavill narrates a sizzle reel which starts with Man of Steel footage. Leto compliments the imagination which is sparked by these movies. Affleck claims the themes are resonant to people. Animated Justice League characters take the screen before Superman flies by. Each cast member and directors and producers compliment the films. A shot of Wonder Woman from her film is shown before clips from Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad. They promise bigger and better films as everything goes on.

Wonder Woman wears a hood in the forest and turns around - it's a new shot. Suicide Squad and BvS footage dominate the screen before turning to the movie's premiere. Titles cite the biggest worldwide opening for the movie and its $750 million box office and counting.

Suicide Squad's title takes over and Will Smith says it isn't a movie about good vs. evil. Robbie says it's bad people doing a good thing. Footage from trailers is shown. Ayer says, "Who better to fight a super villain than a group of super villains?"

Wonder Woman's logo and theme dominate the screen. She rides a horse with others through the forest. Steve Trevor flies a plane. Wonder Woman dodges bullets and deflects them back at shooters with her gauntlets. She attends a party in a beautiful blue dress. In a much more vibrant costume, she attacks enemies on a horse.

A Justice League logo takes the screen and producers narrate how we'll learn about the characters. Momoa says "Aquaman is the only one who is a human and a God." Miller and Fisher describe their characters, too.

Comic panels take the screen as the reel climaxes, mixed with clips from already released movies, as well as Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. Diana looks awesome using her shield to block bullets. The Justice League cast and Zack Snyder greets the audience from the set of Justice League in London. Everyone but Affleck is in the video. Snyder thanks the fans and the theater owners. Momoa has tattoos on his forearms.'

The reel ends and David Ayer is brought to the stage. He brings out the cast of Suicide Squad one by one. Will Smith yells and gets the crowd pumped up. He calms down to describe how spectacular he thinks the movie is and assures the theater owners that it will fill their theaters. Smith introduces a clip. It's the latest trailer.

In mulling over the whole situation with Feige turning most movies that Marvel creates into gold and nobody in particularly guiding DC movies towards anything unless the film's director happens to be quite talented, I took a longer look at Geoff Johns. I'm not sure he's all that interested in doing what Feige does. He clearly wants to remain a creative type, not an executive. Maybe in a few years he'll be ready to permanently trade his pen for a blazer. (shrug)

He does seem like DC's only hope, though. And his background isn't all that dissimilar from Feige's other than he's done far more creative work and had far less management experience. We can only hope that Warner Brothers is smart enough to realize that someone like him needs to be in charge of their film quality. I listened to an interview with Feige where he attributed his success with the Marvel films of late to his respect for the source material, and the worst Marvel movies coming from producers and/or directors who didn't like the source material and felt the need to change it in ways that both pissed fans off and just didn't work. I generally agree with that.

This really isn't about DC & Marvel character related movies anymore is it. (shrug)

well the list has a ton of movies not comic related...anyways Ben Hur should suck

I value your opinion and will boycott this movie based on what you have posted here. Thank you.

needed no remakes.....all of Heston's stuff gets remade....Planet of the Apes, Moses and the Red Sea, Ben Hur. You'd think he was Corey Feldman and not one of the best actors in the 20th century.

What's next, Soylent Green?

Did the original Planet of the Apes get remade? I'm aware of the re-imagined Planet of the Apes starring Mark Wahlenberg and directed by Tim Burton. The current movie series is even further removed from the original 5-movie series than the Burton movie and every bit as good as the original movie, although vastly different. It would be cool if this new series did eventually advance to the point where the original movie is remade IMHO. But I'm in no rush for them to get there as long as they keep putting out good movies like the first 2 in the series.

Soylent Green is a good movie. I can watch Ben Hur again, but the Ten Commandments is a slog to try and get through. That might be because it was one of those movies they showed every year on television when I was a child. Yul Brenner is better in West World IMHO.
