It's sounding like Tarzan is not the bomb that was predicted by some.

'Tarzan', 'BFG' and 'Purge 3' Will be No Match for 'Finding Dory'

SATURDAY AM UPDATE: While Finding Dory is performing just as expected, pulling in an estimated $13.4 million on Friday looking at a four-day right around $52 million, a pair of the July 4 weekend newcomers are vastly outperforming expectations.

First off, Universal's The Purge: Election Year scored an estimated $14.47 million on Friday and is now looking at a three-day weekend around $33 million and a four-day that could finish right around $37 million. This puts it on par with the opening three-day total for the first Purge, not to overlook the fact the "B+" CinemaScore is an improvement over the "C" the first film received and the "B" the second film received.

Looking to finish second behind Dory is WB's The Legend of Tarzan, which brought in an impressive $14 million on Friday and is now looking at a four-day weekend that could come in as high as $45 million.

The last of the weekend's new wide releases is Steven Spielberg's The BFG, which is outperforming Mojo's forecast below, but still is struggling to find much of an audience. The film delivered an estimated $7 million on Friday and is looking at a four-day weekend around $23+ million.

Both Tarzan and The BFG scored "A-" CinemaScores.

Wow! Nice to see a movie beating expectations.

BOX OFFICE: Matt Damon's JASON BOURNE On Pace To Exceed Expectations With $61 Million+ Domestic Debut

Early tracking suggested Universal Pictures' Jason Bourne would have a modest opening, landing somewhere between $50-55 million domestic, but the actual weekend numbers are proving to be just a tad bit higher.

The latest installment in the long-running spy franchise is now on pace to open at around $61 million domestic and could quite possibly take in more when all is said and done. The sudden box office uptick can likely be attributed to a positive word-of-mouth as well as to the return of franchise star Matt Damon, who's back after nearly a decade. Internationally, the Paul Greengrass-directed action sequel is doing better than any of the previous installments and should collect over $49 million by the end of the weekend, bringing its worldwide sum to over $110 million, which is definitely not a bad start for a film that reportedly had a production budget of approximately $120 million.

DC Movie Rumors Posted On 4Chan

A new batch of DC movie rumors has hit the net. They come from 4 Chan so obviously take this with a grain of salt, but at least they're rather fun.

  • J.J. Abrams directing Superman Man of Steel 2
  • Sam Raimi directing Shazam
  • George Miller directing New Gods
  • Gravity's Alfonso Cuaron directing Green Lantern Corps
  • Patty Jenkins directing Justice League 2
  • The Batman released in 2019
  • Deathstroke will be in Suicide Squad 2

Rumored DC movie release dates list:

  • Wonder Woman- June 2nd, 2017
  • Justice League- November 17th, 2017
  • The Flash- April 13th, 2018
  • Aquaman- July 27th, 2018
  • Man of Steel 2- October 5th, 2018
  • Shazam- April 5th, 2019
  • Batman- June 14th, 2019
  • Suicide Squad 2- November 1st, 2019
  • New Gods- April 3rd, 2020
  • Green Lantern Corps- July 24th, 2020
  • Justice League II- October 2nd, 2020

Hate to say it, but this sounds like someone's dream sheet. Though if Warner did this its future could be quite bright.

George Miller on New Gods would be a dream for comic book fans,

Sam Raimi directing Shazam would be something special as well.

I have no idea what I just looked at but it took a very long time to get to the bottom...
Especially on dial-up. :preach:

Cripes

I hope it was worth it... Did you see Alice in Wonderland about 2/3rds of the way down? If not, you should go back and take another look ;)
