Do you know if there have been any changes earlier in the process to reduce the foreign objects?

The QC manager has assured me that this has been addressed earlier in the process with Images, alerts and weekly meetings.  I have had a one on one meeting with this person, and he takes his job very seriously.  I have complete faith in him.  Change takes time but, I feel we are on the right track.

My bad for trying to provide a little positive information as to what is happening with the images customers provided.

I for one greatly appreciate you trying to help out with the QC on the books!  Keep doing what you're doing I say.  Thank You Mike!

Thanks.  Weekly e-mails will continue to be sent in.  We will work on fine tuning things to the point that every stage of the grading process is working at peak performance and efficiency.  The images and text provided here by customers is valuable in making this happen.

I hesitated to ask my question because I didn't want it to look like it was  directed towards you, it was not, but you are the only way to pass thoughts forward right now.

My concern is that it takes a long time for someone to learn all the nuances about comics...I've been actively collecting, not just accumulating for more than 20 years and I couldn't do it. I look at some of the mistakes on moderns and it's not till 4 posts later that I can even figure out what someone is talking about and if the new QC manager is not from the comic book field, although I'm sure he/she is terrific,  they would probably not know all the nuances either.

So I didn't know if these 8 people were well versed in comics or if someone VERY well versed  like Matt or Paul was going to train them since speed is going to be an issue.

I was only commenting that 8 people still have limited time and if a problem, then even less time. I wasn't knocking it, as it's obviously better than it was, and the extension of time books remain in QC has also lengthened.

Thank you for letting us know it will take time, sometimes that's all the commodity that we have, is time.

I understand this.  The last couple years I’ve come to realize the learning curve in this hobby must be steep.  I’m certainly behind the eight-ball when it comes to many moderns and variants.

Don’t stress about it.  I dabbled in the Modern and variants starting in 2017.  I lost interest after early 2021…I started to see the industry for what I believe it has become.  That, and I had to return 20 Modern slabs for mechanical.  I don’t sub anymore. 😕😕

As far as the comic grading, I would need to deal with Matt.  With everything else, the QC manager seems to be on top of things.  During his first week just before our meeting. he had already started working on one of my concerns before I even brought it up..  I mentioned the scratches on the slabs during the meeting, and he had already ordered, protective  coverings to place on all the metal racks that hold the slabs.  I do know that at least 2 of the hired people are specialists.  To be honest, I don't know about the others.  I deal with their manager and he promptly replies to all of my concerns.  I have even received e-mails from him on weekends.  I know things have already improved.  Customer service complaints are down 15% and ME returns are down as well.  Thinks will continue to improve over time.  Since July of last year, everything in this thread and other threads I saw that was related to QC has been sent to CGC, and I will continue to do so.

:golfclap:    I think this is all we can reasonably ask for.  Mistakes and accidents will happen, but identifying recurring problems and implementing mitigation is the right way to fix it.

Maybe some positive news....The last 3-4 months worth of CGC books I have been getting back I have noticed really zero cosmetic problems.  So at least on my end I am seeing things back to pre-covid normal in terms of quality of the CGC cases.

I just got back a box this week and defect free as well.

That's a first in a long time.

Inspector #5 stamped on the invoice.

Good to hear.... Unfortunately, when I finally got through my boxes of 98 slabs 16 are going back. Mostly from large areas of Newton rings, a batch from one box with debris and one mislabeled ( should have been Canadian Price Variant). Good news is all the cases were in excellent shape... no scratches or scuffs which had plagued my last few orders.

Interesting, never noticed the "Inspected by" stamp before. One order shipped 8/4 and delivered doesn't appear to have the stamp on the invoice and one shipped the next day, 8/5, has "Inspected by Comics QC #2" stamped. Irony is one without the stamp, perfect. One with the stamp, looks like Vigilante wet himself.

That means that whatever is inspected, it isn't for NR. Maybe just the correct number of books in the box?

I just got a box returned that I had sent in to be recased due to newton rings etc. The problem is, whoever is is removing the books from the plastic liners seems to be doing so, spine first and bending them. I know the photos are difficult to see, but know that each one is/was a 9.8. I understand that things can happen when a books is removed from the case, but there is a definite trend with these books. I also have photos of them before sending them in. These are the worse ones, some others you can see slight bends to the spine, but not enough the crease them or break color.

I am also sending in an email to submissions regarding these, 10 in total this time.

The invoice with the shipment was not 'checked by QC'.
