I put the books I thought were better on top. The ones not quite as good on the bottom. I'll be rating the books on a scale of 1 to 5 ice cold PBR Talls.

 

The Exterminators 1-30 by Simon Oliver and Tony Moore and Darick Robertson and a few other artists maybe. I can't recommend this book enough....4.0 to 5.0 PBR Talls

 

Fell 1-9 by Ellis and Templesmith short 16 page detective stories...4.0 to 5.0 PBR Talls. My favorite issue was #3. You must try a few issues.

I need to read some Moderns so I can read four in the time it takes to read one pre-Modern age.

After reading slym's plea in the other thread, I guess I can participate. Probably won't reach anywhere near 1000 books, though.

 

2015

 

Fantastic Four # 8 - # 43, including FF annuals 1-3. = 39 books.

Fantastic Four # 232 - # 244. = 13 books.

 

TOTAL: 52 books

 

I started with FF # 8 because #'s 1-7 are in a different box.

I stopped with FF Annual # 3, because I read FF # 44- # 72 last year (I began with the Sinnott run).

 

I jumped ahead to the Byrne run because I hadn't read those in awhile.

I am pausing at FF # 245, because I'm currently reading a small batch of Travis McGee novels by John D. McDonald.

 

I enjoy my old books, I read the lettercol in every issue (do they still print letters in modern comics?) the Bullpen Bulletins and the ads, just because they are so cool.

Lots of familiar names in those old FF letter columns.

It's funny how entertaining the letter columns can be.

When re reading older books, it's actually disappointing to me if there's no letter column in a particular issue.

Letter columns were part of what made some comics go from a 10-minute read to a 20-minute read! The lettercols used to be 2 pages, then 1 page (but some titles went with smaller font, I think) but most all were good reads.

 

Then there was the groovy madness that was the letter column in Sam Kieth's "The Maxx." Humanity bared it's soul there every month, and sometimes all you wanted was for humanity to throw on an overcoat because it was baring too much...

 

...in a good way, that is.

So, the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Deluxe HC was awesome... oversized, deluxe paper, the art was popping off the page, and the stories were pretty neat. I had never read a BtVS comic before, but with Joss Whedon pretty much running the show, it's easy to see how a TV show fan will love these, too.

 

I finished up The Invisibles, and boy... did that get deep by the end! I liked it, but liked vol.1's stories & art the best.

 

I also finished up Scalped - what a ride! What a TV show this could make! I really enjoyed this whole series.

 

I got to read FF 1-10 via the Masterworks Sha gave me, those stories weren't as painful as some of the early SA stuff was. I liked how for the first couple of issues, they were based out of "Central City" but no apologies were made when it was NYC the next issue. ::

 

Fables is coming to an end...

 

At least I have "Jack Of Hearts" & "Fairest" to work on now!

Fairest (and other Cinderella minis) is the better of these two series. Sad to see that's over as well.

Scalped is truly a mind-bender in some places. It's like The Sopranos out on the Rez, but even something more than just that.

 

5-star story, IMHO.
