A suspicious stain in my library's copy of Jeff Lemire's Trillium is preventing me from reading that book.

 

Speaking of...

 

My girlfriend got me Suicide Squad Vol. 1 from BAM, and right smack dab in the middle was a blotch of what smelled like grease.... Not sure if it was indeed grease, but we returned a few days later and swapped it for New 52 Batman Vol. 1.

So, I started reading the "28 Days Later" omnibus just tonight, thinking it would be a comic adaptation of the movie, but figured out quickly that I was wrong. So, I found the movie online & watched right after dinner (and before Gotham aired) and since then, I have already read the 24 issues that make up the omnibus.

 

Good stuff, I really liked both the movie and the comic. Now, to find 28 Weeks Later...

 

 

Since I had a few Bill Willngham series going, I also found a TPB of the Robin series that he had written. Better-than-average fare there, nothing spectacular, but was I really turned off by Damion Scott's art! That mess was horrible, IDK how he gets work. So many of his panels were not just bad, but plainly confusing. I will be trying to avoid anything he draws in the future.

 

Jack Of Fables, well... I think Willingham has lots of fun when he is writing his own creations. Good stuff, right on par with Fables itself. I can't wait to get a copy of the Fairest vol. 1 trade and read those (on hold now at my local library.)

 

Batman And The Monster Men & Batman And The Mad Monk were pretty good. Matt Wagner has a style I like - the art is beautiful and his stories fit well, even if parts were not always the best (I don't think lightning will kill a vampire, but IDK if that villain turns up elsewhere later, so...)

 

Overall, a slow week of reading, but mostly really good stuff!

Batman And The Monster Men & Batman And The Mad Monk were pretty good. Matt Wagner has a style I like - the art is beautiful and his stories fit well, even if parts were not always the best (I don't think lightning will kill a vampire, but IDK if that villain turns up elsewhere later, so...)

 

I own those. I like Matt Wagner and I agree the stories were OK. Did you know that he was essentially piggy-backing on the earliest Batman stories from Detective when he wrote those?

 

Everyone probably remembers that the first Batman story in 'Tec 27 was about the Case of the Chemical Syndicate but those stories above reference the Batman stories from 'Tecs # 31 & 32 in the Mad Monk book ('Tec # 31 synopsis: When Batman discovers Julie in a trance, he is advised by a doctor to take her to Hungary, where he faces a living vampire, who wishes to kill the Caped Crusader and feed Julie to his werewolves) and 'Tecs # 29 & 30 in Monster Men (at least I hope so; anybody can correct me)

I've read iZombie & Sex Criminals before, but wanted to trade-read them - highly recommended.

 

Injustice was a great read, but why are the best Superman stories the ones where he's villainous?

Just finished reading Y the Last Man 1-60.

It's a great read but I was a little underwhelmed since most people on the internet seem to regard this series as one of the best ever made.

It was certainly one of the best I've read this year though!
