Do you know of any others?

Not exactly superheroes, but outside of comics, important print-based adventure characters, super-heavyweights include:

You may not get a shot at a copy of the Beeton's (first Sherlock Holmes) anytime soon, though you could probably get the All-Story eventually, if you were willing to pay the price for it.

[Does anybody here have a Beeton's? Do you have one, Bookery?]

Holy Grails of pop culture. I wonder how many copies of Beeton's (first Sherlock Holmes) and Tarzan`s All-Story exist? hm

I`ll add the first James Bond Casino Royale to the list, as well.

Sold for $78,000.

First Bond $78,000

That Bond is awesome! Favorite Bonds: (more hi jacking I guess)

1. Connery

2. Craig

3. Dalton

4. Brosnan

5. Moore

6. Lazenby

Moore terrific as the Saint as well as Pierce was as Remington Steele Brosnan would have rated higher if the 3 he did were all as good as Goldeneye. Craig does Connery a run for his money I will say

Yep, the two best.

One the classic, the other the modern.

1. action 1

2. 'tec 27

3. marvel comics 1

4. supe 1

5. bat 1

6. cap 1

7. whiz 2/1

8. all-star 3

9. aa 16

10.major inapac 1.

Kinda hard to argue with those 9. I have made arguments for re-stacking it over the years. But reading your list, it kinda just made sense to me.

What would your real #10 be?

I'm all over the place with a tenth choice, but I kind of land on Detective Comics #1

Certainly a worthy modification

I give the nod to AA 16 over Flash 1 secondary to it's considered a little more rare census wise and in top grades and personally I think it's classic cover trumps Flash's classic cover. It close though....especially since Flash 1includes the first appearance of Hawkman as well. However, when it comes to top GA books AA 16 is usually at the top of the list and sometimes Flash 1 is not even in the top 10

.....I just can't place Superman 1 above Batman 1....considering Bat 1 is all original and introduces the most notorious villain of all comicdom. I also think more relevancy is due Cap 1..... again all original, character debuts in his own title, and is hugely popular even today.... and I'm not even going to get started on S&K :cloud9: GOD BLESS...

I give preference to first appearances, first of a kind, and first issues over cool covers, and I also consider how popular and influential books have been over time not just how they are perceived today. Not accounting for value too much either, just my view of importance.

1. Action Comics #1

2. Detective Comics #27

3. Superman #1

4. Marvel Comics #1

5. Batman #1

6. Whiz Comics #2(1)

7. All-Star Comics #3

8. All-Star Comics #8

9. Captain America Comics #1

10. All-American Comics #16 / Flash Comics #1 (tie)

I like this one (thumbs u . I'd go with this in its entirety. If I had to make a change, I might swap AS8 and Cap1, but I could easily go with it just like this.

Edit: And maybe drop the AS3 below AS8 and Cap1
